Last night, we had the privilege of attending the Smart & Caring Community Grants Reception presented by Community Foundation North Okanagan as we were one of the lucky grant recipients in our community!

The sanctuary was awarded $1,000 to help build a much-needed outhouse for our guests (yes!!! Up until now, visitors have been sharing our home bathroom!) and it means the world to us!

As a small, grassroots charity, we sometimes go unnoticed. So, being recognized and supported in this way by such a powerful organization is deeply meaningful. The Community Foundation plays such a powerful role in uplifting local causes, and we are so grateful to be among them.

A heartfelt thank you to the Foundation for not only supporting our mission but also for celebrating 50 incredible years of serving and strengthening our community. Your legacy of compassion and generosity is felt far and wide.

To the donors, volunteers, and visionaries behind the scenes, thank you for believing in the power of local impact. Thank you for believing in community, compassion, and connection 💫

And a huge thank you to all the lucky recipients and changemakers in our community, some of whom are my amazing friends 💛

Jo from Fresh Outlook Foundation and Michelle from Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society

Do you want exclusive, behind the scenes content with Ron (yes, THAT Ron!) for just $1.29/month?

We’re launching a brand new subscriber perk and it’s a good one.....

For just $1.29/month, you’ll get access to an exclusive, behind-the-scenes video every month featuring Ron and the residents of the sanctuary 💛

If you know Ron, you know he avoids the spotlight. So the fact that he's agreed to this? It's kind of a big deal.

Your subscription is an easy and powerful way to support our mission and help us care for the animals who call Forever Home Sanctuary, home. Every dollar goes toward feed, vet care, and the love it takes to help these animals heal. Help us continue to do the very important work we do!

Want to be part of it? Hit subscribe here:

Last night, our beautiful Venus crossed the rainbow bridge, and our hearts are shattered 😭

We know, deep down, that when we rescue senior animals, our time with them may be short, but that never makes saying goodbye any easier.

Venus hadn't been feeling her best these past few days. We had been giving her extra feed, extra love, and quiet time grazing near the house, away from the hustle of the herd. She had already begun to gently distance herself, as if she was slowly preparing us.

We truly thought she might be turning a corner, but her sweet soul had other plans.

Last night, when I went to bring her in and give her her special dinner, she looked up at me and came close, just to be loved and petted one last time. It was her goodbye. And i felt it in our bones.

Sweet Venus, thank you for letting us love you. You brought such calm, gentle energy to the sanctuary. We hope you’re surrounded now by all our favorite souls who went before you, galloping pain-free under wide open skies! You will be terribly missed.

Please give them all our love ❤️🕊️

Today we had the honor of participating in and judging CARE (Climate Action Ripple Effect), a powerful initiative where students from Vernon and Lake Country team up with local mentors to create meaningful climate action projects 💚

This is our second year involved, last year as mentors, because we deeply believe in advocacy and change, not only for farm animals but also for the environment. Collaboration with local organizations matters to us, simply because we are stronger together 🌍

The passion, creativity, and heart these young changemakers poured into their projects was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, truly inspiring and filled us with hope for the future!

One group crafted stunning earrings from deer antlers found in the forest and donated all of the proceeds from their sales to our sanctuary!

Thank you to everyone, all the organizers and our dear friends Kasey Lane and Joanne de Vries , the brains behind this initiative, who made today so meaningful. Our hearts are full!

Three years ago, an amazing human reached out to let us know that her class at Okanagan Landing Elementary School had done a fundraiser and wanted to donate the proceeds to the sanctuary. That incredible person, Michelle Freebairn who has since become a friend, is also the heart behind FreeChild Farm, where she offers beautiful animal-assisted learning experiences.

Since that first connection, their school has continued this thoughtful tradition, raising funds every Christmas and donating them to support our mission.

Yesterday, we had the absolute joy of welcoming Michelle’s class for a visit. The students spent time with our residents, asked thoughtful questions, and showed such respect and curiosity. Our hearts were full ❤️

Hosting tours like this and sharing our mission is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do. It creates a ripple effect of love, kindness, and awareness that reaches far beyond our sanctuary.

Thank you, Michelle, for your continued support, for the work you do through FreeChild Farm, and for being such a beautiful soul. Your kindness makes a lasting impact ❤️
