😿 TOOTH TROUBLE IN CATS: What Are Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions? 🦷

Did you know that over 50% of adult cats suffer from a painful dental condition called Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions (FORLs)?
These lesions slowly erode the tooth — starting below the gumline — and can cause severe pain, even if your cat seems “fine.”

🔍 Signs to Watch For:
🐱 Drooling or pawing at the mouth
🐱 Eating on one side only
🐱 Reluctance to eat dry food
🐱 Red, inflamed gums
🐱 Decreased grooming or hiding

🩺 The only way to diagnose FORLs is through a thorough dental exam and full-mouth X-rays under anesthesia. Early detection is key to relieving pain and preventing further tooth damage.

🦷 Dental care = whole-body care. If your cat hasn’t had a dental checkup recently, it might be time to schedule one!

📞 Call us today to book your cat’s oral health exam.

🐶👁️ What is “Cherry Eye”? Let’s Talk About Your Pet’s Eye Health! 👁️🐾

Have you noticed a red, swollen mass in the corner of your dog’s eye? It might be something called Cherry Eye — a condition where the gland of the third eyelid becomes pr*****ed and visible.

📌 Common Signs:
• Red or pink bulge in the inner corner of the eye
• Excessive tearing
• Eye irritation or pawing at the face

✅ The good news: Cherry eye is treatable — usually through a simple surgical procedure to reposition the gland. Early diagnosis helps prevent long-term issues like dry eye or chronic irritation.

💬 If you spot any unusual changes in your pet’s eyes, don’t wait. Contact us for an evaluation and let us help your furry friend see and feel their best! 💙

🐕‍🦺🐾 Making Furry Friends at the Dog Beach? Let’s Talk Socializing! 🌊🐶

The dog beach is a great place for your pup to meet new friends — but just like us, not every dog is a social butterfly. Here are a few vet-approved tips for safe and happy beach play:

👋 Start Slow – Let your dog observe first. Don’t force interactions — give them time to warm up.

🐶 Know Your Pup’s Personality – Shy? Playful? Protective? Understanding your dog helps you manage their social time.

👀 Supervise All Interactions – Stay alert! Even friendly dogs can get overwhelmed or overstimulated in a crowd.

🚩 Watch for Red Flags – Raised hackles, stiff posture, or growling? Time for a break.

🦴 Don’t Bring Toys in Busy Areas – Some dogs get possessive. Keep high-value items out of group play zones.

❤️ Praise Good Behavior – Reinforce calm greetings, gentle play, and good recall!

🐾 Every dog deserves a fun AND safe day at the beach. If your pup isn’t quite ready for group play, that’s okay too — keep practicing in smaller settings!

🐶💧 Bladder Stones in Dogs: What Pet Parents Should Know! 💧🐾

Did you know bladder stones are a common and painful condition in dogs? These mineral buildups can cause discomfort, frequent urination, blood in urine, or even blockages—especially in male dogs.

🐾 Meet Louie! He’s a 3 year old male Papillion that presented with an inability to urinate, which is a life-threatening situation! We were able to place a urinary catheter and relieve the obstruction then take him to surgery to remove four stones! Can you see them in his urethra on the X-ray?

🔍 Watch for these signs in your pet:
• Straining to urinate
• Blood in urine
• Frequent accidents
• Licking the urinary opening
• Restlessness or discomfort

Early detection is key! 🩺 A quick vet visit and diagnostic imaging can make all the difference. Treatment may include a special diet, medications, or surgery depending on the type and severity.

💬 Concerned about your dog’s urinary habits? Contact us today to schedule an exam!
