Whispering Willow Acres

Whispering Willow Acres 3 sisters got inspired by 2 horses to do something they love doing, sharing their passion with others

Whispering Willow Acres was created by three sisters to help keep rural life and farm life alive while doing something they truly love. All three of us grew up with horses and helping out on their grandpa's farm. We created this page to keep people up to date on what's happening with Whispering Willow Acres and to post any services or sale items that may be available (horses, tack, etc.) An introd

uction to the three sisters...

Jessica took her degree in Rangeland and Wildlife Resources at the University of Alberta. She now has a family of get own and they farm both grain and cattle. She has been involved with training miniature horses and Clydesdales. Was a member of 4-H both in the Beef club and Draft horse project where she learnt many skills she still uses today. Her goal is to continue on raising horses and cattle while promoting good pasture management and environmental protection. She is striving to raise cattle that 4H members can use while creating a female that is quiet and raises a heck of a calf. Savanna is just finishing up get certificate in OH&S and is ready to go do some auditing. She grew up in the 4-H Light Horse Club where she fine tuned her riding abilities and today she still loves riding and working with saddle horses. She has helped her big sister around the ranch with the horses and likes to help her grandpa with the young horses. She owns her own working cow horse and would like to continue to work on her cattle skills and continue on in the working cow horse world. Stephanie finished up her business diploma and has been working steady since. She grew up riding her little pony Two-bits and could be found tagging along with her sister for a ride. She also has been a strong member in 4-H both in the light horse club, sheep club and outdoor club. She has always loved the outdoors and enjoys every moment spent outside. She enjoys every aspect of the farm life and helps her sisters out both by driving horses and going out for rides. Her baby cow Cora is all grown up now and she gets to come for frequent visits to the farm to see her and all the baby calves. All three sisters want to see their farm grow and want to promote strong Rangeland Stewardship to protect the natural landscape while holding onto the farm life. They want to promote many different livestock breeds from Miniature Horses, Quarter Horses, Clydesdales, Sheep and Commercial Cattle while staying local in the Vermilion area.

Lieutenant Dan might not be running yet… but don’t count him out just yet 💪
Born with contracted tendons, he’s got a tough road ahead — but we’re giving him every shot we can. And if Forrest Gump taught us anything… it’s that the best stories start with a little adversity.
One day soon, we’re hoping it’s “RUN, DAN, RUN!” across the pasture 🤍

This was another cool opportunity to be able to share our story and how grit and determination can make any dream come true.

(*Even though four days ago I would've called this my stupid dream*)

Check out our new blog post!

Farmfair International continues to celebrate 2026—the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Meet Jessica Emmott who spent her rural childhood dreaming of ranching. Jessica shares wise words: "You do not need to grow up on a farm to become a farmer. Imagination, passion, curiosity and the willingness to learn can all lead you to the joy of growing a garden or raising animals."

This cow comes from one of the most influential females in our herd.
Between my old 4H cow Buttercup, a heifer from Grandpa’s 9X cow, and this cow’s dam—we built a foundation of females that simply work.
Some might question keeping a rat-tail smokey cow, but she’s proven herself time and time again—consistent, easy-breeding, no trouble, easy fleshing, and raises big, growthy steer calves that love to eat.
Hard to argue with a momma cow like that

It's a busy day on the farm, calving is getting into full swing with all the AI cows finished and onto the main herd.

I absolutely love this really well producing young cow and especially now that she calved a nice strong bull calf.

It always seems like the cutest calves are bull calves.
