"It's a great day to be a farmer!"

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an easy time saying that all the time! But this past week I have found myself saying that every day. After a very long, tough Winter, and cold early Spring we have been blessed with an incredible stretch of warm dry air and alot of sunshine. I love watching the dry cows and bred heifers out on pasture, doesn't get any better than having them out on dirt and grass!
Crops are in the ground and poking through, and 1st cut is ready to go. Looks like a great week ahead!

AMBROSE BLING *RC VG87 2yr MAX👑 a new jewel in the Briar family

Bling is the kind of young cow we strive to breed, highly productive, lots and lots of strength with a silky udder and she transmits favourable traits to her offspring and I think she can have an immense impact on the breed through her offspring. Her daughters are current standouts in our calf barn.
As we have began looking closer at protein KGs I have noticed it is difficult to find high protein animals that also excel for type, I believe Bling can help fill this void.

WALNUTLAWN LANCELOT BLONDIE *RC

To say we were excited when the genomic report came in on this calf would be an understatement!

3978 LPI 18 Conf ...to my knowledge she is the highest LPI in the world at 16 conf or higher.

Her dam Ambrose Bling max scored VG87 2yr a couple weeks ago, and is the top 1st lactation cow in the herd currently producing 49 kg, next dam is Parfect Breony NC (unfortunately lost due to a ruptured abscess) and then Alligator Briar EX92 x VG/EX through Barbie.
Bling is set to make quite an impact with 3 sons already on the ground over 4000 LPI with +15 Conf, and a couple of them are RC themselves. A few other exciting daughters born, and 5 more due this month.

Intermediate Champion at Australia's IDW Holstein Show was Melaleuca Arrow Lautella.
Lautella's dam is an EX Sidekick x Snowman Lucy who we exported as an embryo. She is a full sister to Sidekick Lucille EX91 2E who is the dam of LIBERTY at Blondin Sires Inc. and the 2nd dam of LOVESTORY at Semex .

We had a great day last week hosting the Holstein Canada classifiers for a workshop.
It was an educational day for us and we thoroughly enjoyed the discussion!
The Canadian classification program is in excellent hands!

The Holstein Canada Classifiers recently gathered for a conference focused on project updates, work tools, and team-building sessions. The event also included an on-farm workshop at Walnutlawn Farms and a tour at Hoenhoerst Farm.🐄🇨🇦

We extend our appreciation to both farms for welcoming our team and providing the opportunity to visit, learn, and share valuable insights together.🤝
