WALNUTLAWN PG BERKLEY
New release at Semex
✅3760 LPI
✅14 Conf
✅89 kg Fat
Berkley is the latest sire to be released at Semex from the Briar family. His dam is Parfect Breony NC x Briar VG88 x 10 gens VG/EX. Unfortunately Breony will remain unscored as we lost her approximately 40 days into her first lactation. She calved in and was doing reasonably well but it was evident she was not right, after many visits from the vet and some good days and bad days, we sent her to the University of Guelph Animal Hospital to see if we could turn her around as we had very high hopes for her! Unfortunately she had an abscess from one side of her abdomen to the other, the vet told us she had no chance to turn around so we were forced to put her down. A tough pill to swallow for sure! We have many sons and daughters from her and I am a firm believer in full pedigrees with no holes. So I understand for that reason, Berkley may not be for everybody but it is what it is. As a result of the hole in the pedigree Berkley is Breony's only son who will be released, but we decided to still work with her daughters. It is a little bit tough as honestly the hole on paper bothers me, but it doesn't diminish the fact that I know she was a good cow, I am quite certain she would not have had a problem getting to at least 85 points in her first lactation. On paper there is a hole, always will be, but she was the kind of cow I would like daughters from. Berkley's full sister Ambrose Bling *RC 3818 LPI 14 Conf has been IVFd extensively and has many extremely high pregnancies. She will be an impact cow for us and Semex for sure. She is now pregnant and should be alot fun to calve in as she is an absolute powerhouse!
Breony was a low stature but very wide cow, known as "Little Breony". Different than the other Briar daughters due to her smaller frame with less stature. Due to this and the look of Berkley's full sisters I would assume that he will sire daughters that are very powerful, probably thicker heavier b***d with tremendous legs.
