made under the
PROVINCIAL ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES ACT, 2019
PRESCRIBED PROCEDURES - SECTION 22 OF THE ACT
Prescribed procedures — s. 22 of the Act
1. (1) The following procedures are prescribed for the purposes of section 22 of the Act:
1. Declawing (onychectomy) performed on cats.
2. Devocalization performed on dogs.
3. Ear cropping performed on dogs.
Exception
(2) A veterinarian may perform any of the procedures described in subsection (1) if the veterinarian determines that the procedure is necessary to treat an injury or disease and documents the determination in the animal’s records.
Commencement
2. This Regulation comes into force on the later of January 1, 2027 and the day this Regulation is filed.

Trappin' be like🤪
Yesterday we were asked to help trap a young mama and her 4 kittens, so off I went on my lunch break!

Mom was trapped pretty quickly and then Sanda (who contacted us) and myself got to work collecting the KitKats 🐈
I am petite but oh my was that a very tight squeeze under the deck and so many creepy crawlies!! 🐛 🪲 🐝
I was dirty with scrapped elbows from army crawling to secure kits but we got them, yay!!

We are always in need of dedicated foster homes and are lucky to have Corrina who jumped at the chance to foster this little family--thank you Corrina!!!

What an adventure this little guy had!! 💔
Someone spotted a tiny kitten in a parking lot after he crawled into a car engine. They were able to coax him out with food, but before they could grab him, he climbed into another car engine 😭
They tried again and again to get him out, but had no luck. They called the fire department and were turned away. They reached out to multiple rescues and couldn’t find help.
Finally, they contacted us. Kelsy was a previous adopter of ours, even though she lived almost 2 hours away. We suggested trying a mechanic, and thankfully one stepped in and helped free of charge!!
This little guy was trapped all day, but these soft-hearted, determined women never gave up on him 😻
Huge thank you to Kelsy and her sister Callie for refusing to leave him behind, and to Lauri for meeting up with them the next day to bring Eragon safely into our care 🫶
ERAGON was absolutely infested with fleas, but he’s now cleaned up and safe. He is not up for adoption yet, but keep an eye out for his future posts!

This super sweet boy is looking for a family to call his own! Garfield absolutely loves being picked up and carried around, happily making air biscuits the whole time 🥹
He’s an affectionate kitten who enjoys giving kisses and soaking up attention from his people 😻
One of Garfield’s favourite things is carrying his spring toy around in his mouth, and he can happily play with it for hours entertaining himself. He’s playful, cuddly, and full of personality, making him the perfect mix of fun and affection!!

Meet Muriel 💕

Muriel is a shy but incredibly sweet girl who enjoys gentle pets — especially around meal times, where she sings for her dinner:) She loves curling up in cozy cat trees or sleeping quietly at the foot of the bed.

Muriel’s daughter, Micah, is also available for adoption. While the two may not always snuggle together, they share a special bond through soft head butts and affectionate rubs alongside one another. Because of this, Muriel would do best in a home with another friendly cat companion.

With patience and love, Muriel is sure to blossom into a wonderful lifelong friend.
