🐰✨ A message from Bugsy, the bunny we recently saw for his wellness exam! ✨🐰

Hi everybun! It’s me, Bugsy! I went to the vet today for my wellness check-up, and guess what? I was such a good boy that we went ahead and booked my neuter! 🗓️✂️

Did you know the best time to spay or neuter a rabbit is between 3–6 months of age? Spaying/neutering isn’t just about preventing surprise litters — it’s super important for our long-term health! One of the biggest reasons is to reduce the risk of reproductive cancers, which are sadly very common in unaltered rabbits.

Getting fixed can also help us be happier, more affectionate, and easier to bond with other bunnies 💞

And don’t forget: just like dogs and cats, rabbits need a yearly wellness exam too! These check-ups help our vets learn what’s normal for us and catch any sneaky health issues early.

Stay hoppy and healthy, everybun! 🐾
– Love, Bugsy 💙

🎉 Big News from Cross Roads! 🎉

We’re thrilled to share that Alex has been accepted into the Atlantic Veterinary College, starting this September! 🩺📚

While we’re a little sad to see her go, we’re so incredibly proud and excited for this next chapter in her journey. Alex has been such a valued part of our team, and we know she’ll make an amazing veterinarian.

Here she is with her buddy Dutton, one of our wonderful clients' dogs — the perfect photo to celebrate this milestone! 🐾💙

All the best, Alex! We’ll miss you dearly… and who knows, you just might see her back at the clinic during her rotations! 👩‍⚕️🐶

Important Health Tip for Rabbit Owners 🐇❤️

Did you know that if your rabbit’s stomach is pressing against its body or feels bloated, it could be a sign of a serious health issue?
More information below 👇

Please Share - Stomach Pressing is such an important behaviour to be aware of as it signals stomach pain linked with GI stasis, blockages and/or bloat.

Stomach pressing is when your rabbit repeatedly presses their belly against the ground and gets up again, shifting uncomfortably and seeming restless. It's one of those behaviours that looks not quite right when you are used to rabbits, but if you've no experience you might not realise what it is.

So please share and make sure everyone knows that it's one of those things that if you spot, you need to be reaching out to your vet straight away.

If you'd like to learn about more behaviours that can signal illness, see here: https://www.therabbithouse.com/behaviour/behaviour-unwell.asp

🐶🐱🐰 Yes—dogs, cats, rabbits, and even ferrets can be microchipped!

We’re sharing some favorite parrot facts from our friends at the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV):

🌈 Parrots can live a very long time—some species up to 80 years!
🧠 They’re brainy birds, capable of problem-solving, mimicking speech, and even using tools.
💬 Each parrot has a unique “voice” that helps them identify each other in the wild.
🪶 Bright feathers aren’t just for show—they help parrots blend in with vibrant rainforest canopies.
❤️ Parrots form strong social bonds and often mate for life.
