Congratulations to Montague/Souris Vet Clinics on their transition to offering full services at the Souris Vet Clinic! We are excited to see their continued growth and expanded care for the community.

As many of our clients know, we share on-call services with these clinics. Because of this partnership, we wanted to let everyone know that from time to time emergency services may be provided out of the Souris Vet Clinic.

We appreciate your understanding and are happy to continue working together to ensure quality care is available when our patients need it most. 🐾🐶🦊🐰

June is National Microchipping Month! 🐾

Did you know that a microchip is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help lost pets find their way back home?

A microchip is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, that is placed just under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. Each chip contains a unique identification number that can be scanned by veterinary clinics, shelters, and animal control officers.

Unlike collars and tags, microchips can’t fall off or become unreadable — making them a permanent form of identification for your pet.

Why are microchips so important?
🐶 They greatly increase the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families
🐱 They provide permanent identification
🏠 They give owners peace of mind in case the unexpected happens

Remember: a microchip only works if your contact information is kept up to date! If you’ve moved or changed phone numbers, now is a great time to check your pet’s registration information.

If your pet isn’t microchipped yet, give us a call to learn more about this quick and safe procedure ❤️

🇨🇦 June 1st: Canada Day is only 1 month away 🇨🇦

It’s hard to believe, but July 1st is just around the corner — and with it comes all the celebrations, gatherings, and yes… fireworks. 🎆

While this is an exciting time for many of us, it can be a very stressful time for our pets. The loud noises, unpredictable sounds, and general “festive chaos” can be overwhelming for a lot of dogs (and other pets!).

If your dog has struggled with fireworks, thunderstorms, or anxiety in the past, now is the time to reach out to discuss calming options and medications. Getting ahead of it allows us to find the right plan for your pet well before the big day arrives.

Don’t wait until the fireworks have already started — appointments and medication trials are best done in advance so your pet can be as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

📞 Give us a call or message the clinic if you’d like to talk about options for your dog.

Let’s make this Canada Day a safer, calmer experience for everyone in the family — including the four-legged ones 🐾

Beau was in to see us this week for an FNA! 🐾

An FNA, or Fine Needle Aspirate, is a quick and minimally invasive procedure where a small needle is used to collect cells from a lump, bump, or area of concern. These cells are then examined under a microscope to help us learn more about what’s going on.

FNAs are an important diagnostic tool because they can help determine whether a mass is something harmless like a fatty lump, or something that may need further testing or treatment. Catching changes early can make a big difference in your pet’s care and comfort.

Beau was such a brave patient for his visit and handled everything like a champ! ❤️

W***y was recently in to have his phenobarbital levels checked! 🐾

Regular monitoring helps make sure the medication is working properly to control seizures and confirms your dog is on the correct dose. Bloodwork can also help detect possible side effects or toxicity before they become serious.

Keeping up with regular monitoring is an important part of keeping your dog safe, healthy, and comfortable. ❤️

Benny the cat came in for his annual wellness exam and FVRCP vaccine! 🐱💉

The FVRCP vaccine is an important core vaccine that helps protect against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. These viruses can cause serious illness and are highly contagious. Even indoor cats are recommended to stay up to date on their FVRCP vaccines, as viruses can still be brought into the home on clothing, shoes, hands, or through open windows and doorways.

Great job today, Benny! 🐾
