BUDDY IS SAFE AFTER BEING MISSING FOR 2 DAYS!!
Buddy, a rescue dog, escaped from his grandparents’ home while his owner was away for the day. Although he was rescued six years ago, he remains extremely skittish around anyone other than his owners.
When Buddy first got out, he was seen a few times, but no one was able to catch him. He eventually disappeared down a driveway that backed onto a large forested area. Concerned for his safety, his family contacted Petsearchers for assistance.
Parker began the search the following day with Hunter. They started at the location where Buddy was last seen. It was a very large property, with extensive wooded areas behind it. Hunter quickly located a trail Buddy had taken leading into the forest.
Parker deployed the thermal drone and conducted an extensive search of the surrounding forest and nearby fields. Although there was no sign of Buddy, that didn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t there. Later that evening, Parker returned and conducted another thorough search of the area. Still, there was no sign of him. Based on Buddy’s behaviour and the circumstances of his escape, Parker felt it was only a matter of time before Buddy emerged looking for food and water and made his way back toward where he had gone missing.
Sure enough, at 5:00 AM this morning, a sighting came in.
Buddy had returned to his grandparents’ property but became spooked, just as Parker had anticipated, and took off into a nearby off-leash dog park trail system. With Buddy’s grandparents positioned on one side of the park and his owner carefully searching from the other, they followed Parker’s guidance and remained patient.
At first, Buddy ran from his owner several times. But as the pressure was kept low and she continued calmly following the plan, Buddy eventually came close enough for his survival mode to switch off. In that moment, he recognized his owner and was safely reunited with her.
Buddy is now back home safe and sound, and we’re so happy we could help bring this sweet boy home.
Take care, Buddy!
