Hey friends, Flo & Furiends is having a halloween walk! Although Id love to join with my pack- I'll be in Tennessee for a dog training workshop that weekend.
It looks to be a whole lot of fun so rsvp if you can make it!

Get those costumes ready because Flo & Furiends is hosting a FREE Howl-O-Ween Pack Walk this Halloween season!

📅 Date: Friday, October 30th, 2026
📍 Location: Sault Ste. Marie waterfront boardwalk. Starting at: The Bondar Pavilion
⏰ Time: 7:00 - 8:00/8:30
💲 Cost: FREE!

🐾 WHAT TO EXPECT:

🎃 A fun, Halloween-themed group walk with fellow dog lovers!

👻 A costume contest to celebrate your spooky, silly, and adorable pups!

🧡 A socially distanced walking format to help accommodate dogs who may be nervous, need extra space, or prefer to enjoy their walks without close interactions.

🐶 A welcoming community atmosphere where dogs and their humans can enjoy a little Halloween fun together!

🐕 IMPORTANT DETAILS:
• Advance registration is required.
• Space will be limited to approximately 10–15 dogs to help keep the walk manageable and enjoyable.
• Please bring a secure leash and properly fitted harness or collar.
• Costumes are encouraged but completely optional! Your dog’s comfort and safety always come first.
• Please respect other dogs’ space and follow any distance requests from fellow handlers.
• Dogs must remain under their handler’s control throughout the event.

Let’s make this a howling good time while continuing to build a supportive, inclusive dog community here in Sault Ste. Marie!

I love when I get to work off real world distractions!
I like to be prepared though for them so as long as I’m not snuck up on, being able to work my Board and train dogs off of piglets turkeys, and chickens is great!

Cost: 20$ cash (free for alumni students)

What to bring: your hungry dogs, treats, a walking length leash and ensure your dog is on a secured collar they cannot slip out of.

All dogs 6 mos and older are welcome to participate

Relaxation work this week with these two gals. Both Suki, the Shepherd and Phoebe the golden are extremely high energy dogs. Teaching relaxation on queue is a great way to help them understand how to self regulate their emotions when they’re excited.

Today’s Packwalk was a small one but so beautiful with all the leaves and fall colours coming into season!

What building impulse control looks like. Place boards are like training wheels when building understanding of a stay in the midst of distractions.
The middle retriever’s name is Phoebe. She’s just learning how to relax in the midst of distractions. I start out with place stays and relaxation exercises and then focusing on building an actual relaxation command and putting them all together.
Having a hyper dog can be exhausting, but it doesn’t have to be. Teaching an off switch, and to toggle your dog between relaxation and excitement is extremely useful.
All the dogs who do Board and Trains are taught how to relax on cue. It’s one of my favorite things to teach!
