Some duos just belong together... and Coco and Saba are definitely one of them. ❤️

This bonded mother-daughter pair are searching for a home where they can continue their adventures side by side - preferably one with plenty of cozy napping spots, windows for neighbourhood surveillance, and a steady supply of squeeze-up treats (as you'll clearly see in the attached video).

At 15 years young, Coco is the wise matriarch of the operation. She's equal parts sweetheart and sass, with a permanent expression that suggests she's either judging your life choices or is mildly shocked by them. Coco enjoys affection on her terms, prefers to keep all household happenings under close observation, and firmly believes that everyone should respect the opinions of a senior lady.

Saba, her daughter, seems to have missed the memo about acting her age. This playful senior still zooms around cat trees with impressive agility, happily flops over for tummy rubs, and loves spending time with her people. She's affectionate, charming, and always ready to remind you that age is just a number.

Together, they're a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, playful and dignified. Whether they're sharing treats, keeping tabs on the neighbourhood, or lounging nearby while you go about your day, these two make every day a little brighter.

If you've been thinking about opening your home to a pair of wonderful senior cats, Coco and Saba would love to meet you. 🐾

If Sweet Pea could write her own adoption profile, she'd probably start with an apology:

"Sorry about my shelter audition. I swear I'm much better at home."

And honestly? She'd be right.

Sweet Pea is one of those cats who simply doesn't show her true self in the shelter environment. The hustle, bustle, unfamiliar sounds, and constant activity just aren't her thing. If you met her here at the Centre, you might walk away thinking she's quiet, reserved, or even a little uninterested.

But after spending the last three weeks in one of our wonderful foster homes, we've discovered the real Sweet Pea - and she's absolutely lovely.

In a home, Sweet Pea blossoms into the sweet, gentle girl we've always hoped was hiding in there. While she's a little shy when meeting new people, once she settles in, she shows her affectionate side, enjoys playtime, and never says no to a tasty treat. She's the kind of cat who just needs a little patience and understanding before she lets her personality shine.

Sweet Pea is looking for an adopter who understands that some animals need a chance to decompress before showing who they truly are. If you're willing to look beyond a shelter first impression, you'll be rewarded with a wonderful companion who's been waiting for someone to see the real her.

We would love nothing more than to find Sweet Pea her forever family as soon as possible.

If you've been thinking about adding a feline friend to your home, maybe Sweet Pea is the one you've been waiting for. And if you're not looking to adopt right now, please share her story. Somewhere out there is the person who's meant for Sweet Pea - we just need to help them find her. 💕

Meet Blue: Professional Sniffologist, Water Enthusiast, and Full-Time Best Friend 🐾

If you've ever thought, "You know what my life is missing? A sweet, soulful hound with a heart of gold and a nose that could probably solve mysteries," then Blue would like a word.

Blue is the kind of dog who makes friends wherever he goes. People? Love them. Dogs? Big fan. Cats? He's lived with them before and did just fine. This handsome coonhound mix approaches life with a wagging tail, a gentle spirit, and a face that always seems to be smiling.

One of Blue's greatest talents is being wherever his people are. Yard work? He's supervising. Hiking adventure? Count him in. Swim at the lake? Already halfway in the water. Quiet afternoon while you work? Blue will happily settle nearby and keep you company with his soulful hound eyes.

Speaking of talents, this boy has brains to match his good looks. He already knows sit, stay, come, and down, and he's incredibly cooperative and eager to learn. He's currently polishing up his loose-leash walking and heel work, and with a few treats and some encouragement, he's more than happy to show off what he knows.

Like any true coonhound, Blue experiences the world through his nose. A walk with Blue isn't just a walk - it's a full sensory investigation. Scent games, tracking activities, enrichment puzzles, and opportunities to sniff are basically his version of winning the lottery. 👃

Blue can sometimes feel a little anxious when life gets overwhelming, but he's a thoughtful guy who settles nicely with support and routine. He's also remarkably gentle in how he handles conflict. If another dog is being rude or things get a little chaotic, Blue's strategy is simple: "No thank you," and he quietly removes himself from the situation. Honestly? A life skill many humans could learn from.

Because Blue is a coonhound mix, his future family should have an understanding of hound traits and be excited to embrace them. That means following his nose, giving him plenty of mental enrichment, and appreciating that sometimes there's an interesting smell that simply must be investigated immediately.

Blue isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for people to love, adventures to share, water to splash in, and a family who will appreciate the wonderful, goofy, affectionate dog he is.

And trust us - once you know Blue, it's pretty hard not to love him. 💙

Our BC SPCA Campbell River friends need a little help getting the word out about the lovely Jack 😍

Please share, let's find this fella his forever family!

Adopted!!

Jack is a gentle, oversized cuddlebug who lives for soft blankets, slow mornings, and making biscuits like it’s his full‑time job. He’s calm, affectionate, and brings the kind of peaceful energy everyone wishes they had at home.

Jack has hyperthyroidism, but don’t let that scare you off — he takes his twice‑daily meds like an absolute champ. It’s a lifelong condition, but now that he’s stable, he’ll just need semi‑annual or annual bloodwork to keep his dosage on track.

Jack is the definition of a gentle soul. He’s affectionate, calm, and happiest simply being near his person. If you want a sweet, mellow companion who fills your home with warmth (and biscuits), Jack is your guy.

We absolutely love receiving post-adoption updates! 🥰

Walter and Richie (formerly Buster) found their forever home back in March, and it sounds like these handsome boys are settling in beautifully. Their family recently sent us this sweet update:

Just wanted to send an update and a huge thank you to all the great staff who helped me during the adoption process back in March.

Walter and Richie are blossoming into such sweet, intelligent boys. Every week they're becoming more affectionate and confident. Richie especially is a total lovebug, greeting us every morning with nudges and looking for pets at almost every opportunity. We're so proud of him. And Walter is starting to really love being brushed and getting pets during nap time. He is an adorable goofball who is constantly making us laugh (and who has the cutest little face ever).

Our home is so much happier with them, and we're just constantly in awe of how much they love each other, and us!

We're so grateful to the SPCA for your rescue efforts, and for providing us with the most adorable little black and white gentlemen.

Thank you so much for everything you did for our beautiful boys! We love them so much ❤️

🍋🐾 A huge thank you to Sheridan! 🐾🍋

For her 8th birthday, Sheridan and her friends squeezed 48 lemons to make lemonade and sell it in support of the animals in our care.

Together, they raised an amazing $132.95! 💛

We're so grateful that Sheridan chose to spend part of her special day helping animals in need. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and big heart!

Happy 8th Birthday, Sheridan! 🎉🐶🐱🐰

If you are looking for a furry friend who is full of love, personality, and a whole lot of silly charm, look no further!

At just 8 years old, Ryah has a heart as big as her playful spirit.
While Ryah is currently taking a little time out from her usual zoomies due to a torn ligament in her knee, this doesn't deter her from getting up to her playful antics or sneaking onto your lap for a cuddle to dream about her next adventure!

Ryah is currently on the lookout for a foster to adopt placement to help her through her surgery and recovery. She's hoping to find someone who's gentle, patient, and willing to help her heal, all while showering her with love and kisses! Ryah will need a home that can help her stay comfortable during her recovery, and in return, she promises to keep you on your toes and give you all the snuggles you could ever ask for!

Despite her temporary limps, Ryah's personality is all about sweetness and friendliness. Although Ryah can be a bit weary of strangers, this doesn't stop her from getting up close and personal once she is comfortable.
One of Ryah's favorite things? Playing and jumping around (which she can't do quite yet), but when she's back to full speed, she'll be the first to invite you for a game of fetch or a romp in the yard!

Ryah is a water lover through and through. She doesn't need any encouragement to take a dip. Splashing around, swimming, chasing after a stick, or just floating around like an otter is her idea of pure bliss. Lake days are Ryah's jam; Once she's all healed up, she will happily follow you on any adventure as long as it ends in a quick (or long) dip!

And here's a fun bonus; Ryah is basically your very own alarm system! She's got a nose for trouble (or what she thinks is trouble). She will happily alert you if a squirrel sneezes across the street or a leaf falls in the wrong place!
Think of it like having your own personal security guard, the only difference being that Ryah is much cuddlier and cuter!

Ryah also has a soft spot for feline friends; Or maybe just a tolerance, but who's to say! Dogs can be a little bit more difficult for Ryah as she can be a bit selective. Ryah would do best in a home where she is the only pooch!

When it's bedtime, Ryah loves to snuggle up in her favorite spot on your bed. Ryah will happily take up the majority of your bed if you let her.
After some negotiating, she will lay at the end of the bed. But watch out, she will be quick to steal your spot if you get up!

If you are ready to open your heart and home to this sweet, fun-loving gal, submit a pre-adoption questionnaire at the link below and learn more about Ryah today!

To conquer loose-leash walking, we need to take it one step at a time, and the very first one is the equipment you use.

Maren Bruun of Paw In Hand shares these three essentials to enjoying a loose-leash walk with your dog.

1️⃣Well-fitted harness: that is comfortable for the dog to wear.
2️⃣Long leash: Remember that it is important that you can safely and effectively handle it.
3️⃣Treat pouch with lots of treats: because there are plenty of things that compete for your attention!

We talk all about loose-leash walking at https://animalkind.ca/all-about-leash-walking/
