Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter This page is used for the purpose of promoting the animals available for adoption at our shelter.

The Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter is medium sized shelter located just outside of historic Port Perry on the shores of Lake Sugog. We have a large grass dog yard for exercise and playtime, indoor/outdoor kennels and two cat adoption rooms. We pride ourselves on providing all animals with daily one on one attention from our caring staff. All animals have a warm soft bed with toys and treats to kee

p them as comfortable and relaxed as possible while they wait for their forever homes. We closely screen all pets and potential adopters so we may place the most suitable pet with your and your family. Donations we receive ensure that we are able to spay or neuter, vaccinate and microchip all animals prior to adoption. A MESSAGE FROM MANAGEMENT

Following Friday’s tour, I have received a surprising amount of positive feedback. Apparently, people enjoyed my work. I have therefore decided to conduct a performance review.

Areas of success:
✔️ Introduced several roommates
✔️ Gave an extremely professional tour
✔️ Increased awareness of the Cat Relations Department
✔️ Maintained excellent hair
✔️ Continued to look handsome under difficult working conditions

Areas requiring improvement: None identified at this time.

I have reviewed the evidence. I appear to be doing an excellent job.

The humans may disagree. They are entitled to their opinion.

It is simply incorrect.

Thank you to everyone who watched the tour, left a comment, shared it, or followed along.

I’ll be continuing my work of introducing roommates and finding them suitable humans.

Unfortunately, the department continues to have vacancies.

So I’ll be getting back to work… Someone has to.

CAT RELATIONS DEPARTMENT — INTERNAL UPDATE🚨

The humans usually give the tours.

I decided it was time someone qualified took over.

So, welcome.

I’ll be showing you around, introducing you to some of my current roommates.

There are a variety of positions currently available.
-Some are young.
-Some are shy.
-Some are energetic.
-Some have very strong opinions.

We have quite the department. Applications are encouraged.

Chandler arrived as a stray July 2026. We have not tested him with cats, children, or other dogs. When walking by cat rooms he seems indifferent. And he can pass by other dog kennels well, so long as the other dog reacts respectfully.

Chandler can be a vocal guy—barking is his favourite way to communicate! He loves to run, play, and have fun.
His idea of the perfect day? A sandbox to dig in, a ball to chase, and a person willing to run around and chase him right back. Basically, Chandler is looking for someone who enjoys life at full speed!

While she waits for her forever home, Dixie is grateful to explore and respect the incredible trail system that Uxbridge Township has to offer proudly known as the Trail Capital of Canada.

Officers are out and enforcing by laws.

• Please keep pets leashed. The only designated off-leash areas are the Uxbridge and Scugog Dog Parks.
�• Ensure your dog’s municipal licence is up to date-we may ask for your information to verify a current license tag.
�• Always clean up after your pet and dispose of waste properly.

Meet Moira 🐾
Age: 2 years old

Breed: Ragdoll

Moira has been with us since June 1, 2026, after being returned due to inappropriate litterbox use. Since arriving, we have taken the time to get to know her and investigate what may have been causing the issue—and we’ve learned a lot about this beautiful girl!

Moira is affectionate, calm and loves the comforts of a cozy spot. She also absolutely loves having her beautiful coat brushed! She is happiest roaming around the adoption room in a quiet environment, rubbing up against staff when she is ready for attention or climbing up and down her cat tree.

As part of our investigation into her litterbox concerns, Moira was tested for urinary crystals and infection. Her testing showed that her issue was not urinary-related, but instead associated with a calcified area outside of her bladder. She can live comfortably with this calcified area- it is not a concern per our veterinarian.

An ultrasound also showed that Moira has small kidneys, IBD and typhlitis. She is now on a management plan for these conditions and is doing very well. Her typhlitis has been treated and has not returned.

Moira currently eats a hydrolyzed renal-support diet along with a probiotic to help support her IBD and kidney health. Her adopters will need to be committed to continuing this diet.

What kind of home are we looking for for Moira?
- A quiet home: A busy or stressful environment may aggravate her medical conditions.
- No other animals: We feel Moira will do best as the only pet in the home, where she won't have the added stress of living with other animals.
- A commitment to her diet: Her adopter must be willing to continue her prescribed veterinary diet and probiotic.

Moira is a sweet, beautiful girl who has been through a lot, and we are looking for a calm, loving home where she can settle in and continue to thrive.

Toast’s Roommate Files #11 and #12🍞🐾

Today I have been asked to introduce Kimchi & Miso.

They are sisters.

When they first arrived, I observed two very scared, very spicy little ladies who had apparently reached the conclusion that humans were suspicious.

Honestly, fair.

I have since conducted further investigations. The findings are… surprisingly positive.

Kimchi and Miso have slowly discovered that some humans are, in fact, acceptable. Once they decide you have passed whatever mysterious background check they are conducting, they become completely different cats.

Suddenly they are playful, curious and happy to hang out with you.

Apparently, I was worrying for nothing.

They also appear to genuinely enjoy each other’s company. They play together, keep each other entertained, and generally seem quite pleased to have their sister nearby.

Do they have to go home together? No.
Are they bonded? Also no.

Would I like them to go home together because they clearly enjoy being sisters and I have functioning eyes? Yes.

But apparently, I am not in charge of adoption decisions. A troubling oversight.

Kimchi and Miso don’t need much. Just someone willing to give them a little time to decide whether you are trustworthy.

Once you pass inspection and are officially classified as One of the Good Ones, you get access to the sweet, silly, playful versions of these two.

I will continue monitoring the situation.

Current findings:
Kimchi: Good cat.
Miso: Good cat.
Kimchi + Miso: Suspiciously excellent combination.

Further observations pending.

Toast’s Roommate File #10 🍞

I have another new roommate to introduce. His name is Timothy. The humans call him Timmy.

Timothy arrived here at approximately 4 weeks old and, at the time, was still requiring bottle feeding.

He was very small. He is considerably less small now. Apparently, kittens are capable of growing. This was not mentioned during orientation.

Timothy has been busy. He has grown quite a bit, graduated from his bottle-feeding era, and has now reached the stage where he would like to be employed full-time as someone’s kitten.

His qualifications include:
• Extremely playful
• Energetic for reasons that remain unclear
• Excellent with other kittens
• No apparent understanding of personal space
• No discernible off switch

I have personally investigated the last one. There is no off switch.

Timothy appears to believe that every available moment should be spent playing with someone. If no one is available, he will likely locate someone.

Fortunately, he gets along very well with other kittens, so he has acquired several coworkers to distract.

He is now looking for his forever home, preferably with humans who understand that adopting a kitten means voluntarily turning your peaceful household into a small-scale operation run entirely by someone who weighs approximately 2 kilograms.

Attention, humans. Before anyone starts asking questions…

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. And no, Lothric did not get returned.

This is Lorian. He is Lothric’s sibling. Yes. There are more of them.

Lothric was adopted while Lorian was busy dealing with some medical things, which is why the two were not introduced to the public at the same time. Apparently, sibling cats do not come with a synchronized release schedule.

But they humans say Lorian is doing much better now and has officially been cleared to join the Roommate Department.

He’s a little shy at first and prefers to quietly assess the situation before getting involved.

Honestly, excellent judgment. He observes. He gathers information. He decides whether you are trustworthy.

Then he discovers that humans provide food. And pets. And toys. At this point, his investigation usually concludes that humans may actually be worth keeping around.

Once he’s comfortable, Lorian is playful, curious, and increasingly convinced that this whole human arrangement might not be terrible.

I have reviewed his file. I have reviewed his face. I have compared the evidence. Definitely not Lothric.

Similar model. Same general branding. Different cat.

Lorian is now officially ready to find his own forever home and begin his own chapter.

So if you’re sitting there thinking, “Wait… didn’t I just see this cat get adopted?”
No. That was his brother. Please try to keep up.
