Some cat breeds are more prone to hidden ear issues than others. Cats with folded ears, long hair, or large open ears – such as Scottish Folds, Persians, or Siamese – are more susceptible to moisture and debris buildup, which leads to infections. Check their ears weekly for good measure and look for redness, discharge, or excess wax. Not sure if your cat is experiencing ear issues? Contact us at (905) 985-9748 today for expert advice and care.

Did you know your dog’s digestive health can impact their mood and behavior? The gut isn’t just for digestion; it’s packed with neurons that constantly communicate with the brain. A disrupted microbiome can lead to anxiety, reactivity, and even depression. Adding probiotics and avoiding sudden diet changes as well as reducing stress can support a healthy gut and a happier pup! Has your dog’s behavior changed with a diet switch? Contact us at (905) 985-9748 for more personalized care for your pet.

Struggling with your dog’s tummy woes? Plain canned pumpkin (not pie filling) is a natural remedy to help soothe digestion. Its fiber can ease diarrhea and constipation effectively. Just a spoonful for small dogs or more for larger breeds may provide relief. Always consult your vet before introducing new remedies. Have questions? Contact us at (905) 985-9748.

Too many baths can strip your dog’s skin of natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Short-haired breeds tend to stay cleaner for longer, while long-haired or double-coated dogs may require more regular grooming and occasional baths to prevent matting and unpleasant odors. Always use pet-safe shampoo. Call us at (905) 985-9748 with specific questions!

🚨 After-Hours Virtual Pet Care Update 🚨

We wanted to let you know that Smart.Vet (virtual after-hours veterinary consultations) has rebranded to VetWise – Virtual Pet Care 🐾.

New name, same trusted team! Ownership, staff, and the quality of care remain exactly the same — just with a fresh new name and look.

📞 Here’s how it works:
• Access to RVTs: Simply call 1-888-243-1411 and you’ll be connected to a RVT who can assess your pet’s needs, triage, and guide you on the appropriate level of care. There is no cost for RVT assistance.

• Telemedicine Appointments: If your pet requires further attention for a condition that may be managed with a virtual visit, the RVT will book a virtual consult with a veterinarian

• Critical Care or Emergencies: Should your pet need urgent in-person care, the RVT will assist in arranging immediate care at a suitable facility. They can advise you on waiting times at local emergency clinics and facilitate transfer.

• Direct Booking: You can also book directly with a VetWise Veterinarian by visiting www.getvetwise.com

• Additional Features: Once your request is submitted, you can add notes, images, or videos for the veterinarian's review.

⚠️ Important Reminder: If it’s a true emergency, head to the nearest emergency clinic right away! But if you’re unsure, VetWise is here to help you decide.
