Here at Scugog Animal Hospital, we have three of the best — Jamie, Cassie and Baelyr!
𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗩𝗧𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀… 𝘀𝗼 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲. 🐱🐶📸
Behind every cat-covered face is an RVT with amazing skills! While they see clients for tech appointments and surgery drop-offs/discharges, so much of their work happens behind the scenes!
From monitoring anesthesia and preparing patients for surgery to triaging emergencies, running lab work, taking X-rays and performing dental cleanings, our RVTs are involved in so many aspects of your pet’s care. They place IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, monitor hospitalized patients, collect diagnostic samples and keep a close eye on patients as they recover from surgery or illness. Additionally, RVTs have to complete continuing education each year to maintain their licensing.
They advocate for your pet, recognize when extra pain control or comfort measures are needed, create diet plans, educate clients on medications and at-home care, and follow up with families after procedures. They also prepare surgical equipment, maintain medical supplies, support our veterinarians during procedures, mentor students and provide compassionate support to pets and their families through every stage of life, from their first visits as puppies and kittens to senior care and end-of-life support.
And of course, there’s a little doctor babysitting, too! 😆
