I say this often, on repeat, when discussing rabbits leaving here as pets (which doesn't happen often!).

Rabbits are NOT social by nature. They are prey that do not live in "fluffles" (a bogus term for a herd of rabbits). A happy healthy rabbit is fine alone with you as company before and after work, they're crepuscular by nature anyway!

Oooooh I do love a good genetics mystery 😍

This little white footed doe popped out of a show line Rex x show line Rex litter, I have pedigrees, no mention of Vienna anywhere in those 🤣

Her parents are going to be test bred to confirm if it is indeed Vienna, pedigrees will be labeled and we'll proceed accordingly.

Good thing I have a Vienna Rex line in progress, this might work out for me. Also a good thing I haven't sold any babies from these parents without a warning...because I certainly didn't expect any splashy splash in this pairing 🤷‍♀️😅

It's been a year! Another one. As I get older the years pass even quicker.

This 1 was definitely full of highs and lows on the homestead, full of learning experiences, whether good or bad, and full of family.

I wouldn't change it all for anything else. Happy New Year to all my friends and family 🎉 Get home safely tonight if you have plans... Me? I'll be home and happy in the quiet 😂

It's been an interesting 24 hours here on the farm, you really don't appreciate the simple modern amenities until they're gone 😅

Last night our well pump controller decided to fizzle out while I was making dinner. This is the 2nd time in the 2 years we have lived here 🤦‍♀️

So drove to the town our well company is in to pick up a part since they had no after hours staff on. Install said new part and it immediately fizzled out as well...

Well company will be here this hour (830am) to see what's going on, but last night that didn't help us with livestock needing feed and water or keeping our toilet tanks stocked!

The buns got bowls of snow (I think the babies thought that was fun!) and I melted gallons of snow on the stove so we could refill toilet tanks if anyone needed to... You know 👀

Pray for us today 🙏 I'm not built for this much roughing it folks, I need running water 😅

I just have to brag a moment, cause this type in my rabbitry has been a long time coming and hard work. I'm sooooo happy with this homebred doe. 10.5lbs at 6.5 months with stellar depth, lush fur and width of loin. I can't wait to see where we are at in 2 more years with some of the lines I'm finally producing 😍🙏
