🎓 Building Lifelong Skills 🐾on out Puppy Kindergarten Course

In our Puppy Kindergarten, we give your puppy the strongest foundation for life skills and much more.

Across six weeks, one hour each week, you and your puppy will build essential life skills—like impulse control, polite greetings, recall, and calm stays—and we introduce cooperative care techniques to help them feel safe at the vet, groomer, or during nail trims. 🩺✂️🐶

You’ll also receive video homework, handouts, and fun quizzes to reinforce learning between classes. 📚🎥

And after the course, we offer additional classes so you can continue working on any skills your puppy needs, plus fun social events exclusively for our customers. 🎉🐾

Join us and give your puppy the best start! 💛

🧠 The Developing Puppy Brain 🐶

From the earliest weeks, a puppy’s brain forms at an incredible pace—especially the amygdala, which governs emotions and reactions.

Over time, the prefrontal cortex, which is the key part of the brain involved in decision-making and impulse control, also develops, but is slower to develop than the part of the brain that governs the emotions and reactions, (this is really apparent in teenagers‼️🙈) .

Early, calm training is so vital because it helps shape your puppy’s reactions, confidence, and trust for life. 💛

🐶💪 WHY DO CANINE FITNESS? 💪🐶
Canine fitness is about so much more than building muscles or creating a “sport dog.” It’s about helping dogs move better, feel better, and stay healthier for longer ❤️

Just like people, dogs benefit from:
✨ Injury prevention
✨ Better balance & coordination
✨ Improved body awareness
✨ Stronger core muscles
✨ Increased confidence
✨ Joint support
✨ Healthy aging
✨ Mental enrichment

Whether your dog is:
🐾 A young puppy
🐾 A senior dog
🐾 A sporting dog
🐾 Or simply your best friend on daily walks…

Fitness exercises can help support their overall wellbeing 🐕

The best part? Fitness doesn’t have to mean intense workouts. Small, controlled exercises done correctly can make a HUGE difference over time 🙌

Strong muscles help support joints. Better balance helps prevent slips and falls. Improved body awareness helps dogs move more safely and confidently through everyday life.

Fitness is for EVERY dog ❤️

A huge thank you 🙏to Amanda and the team at Toyota Petawawa, along with FM Pembroke, for inviting us to take part in Animals House Week 🐾

https://www.facebook.com/PetawawaToyota

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to talk a little about what we do and to help promote conversations around animal welfare, enrichment, training, and responsible pet ownership within our community.

As a smaller local organization, it means so much when bigger local businesses and community partners take the time to support and shine a light on the animal training, enrichment, and education work we offer within the community ❤️

If you’d like to listen to the interview, you can check it out here:

Thank you again for thinking of us and for helping shine a light on the importance of animal wellbeing. We truly appreciate the support!

🐾 “My dog is great… until we go outside.” 🐾
Does your walk look like this? 👇

🚶‍♀️ Your dog pulls from the second you leave the driveway
🚗 Cars, buses, squirrels, people, and dogs are ALL more exciting
🦮 You feel like you’re just hanging onto the leash hoping your dog eventually settles down

😵‍💫 Walks are becoming stressful instead of enjoyable

Here’s the thing… dogs don’t just “grow out” of pulling.
And busy environments are NOT where learning should begin.

If we throw dogs straight into distracting environments and expect them to figure it out, it’s a little like teaching a child that 2 + 2 = 4… and then immediately asking them to solve calculus 📚🤯

Dogs need skills built step by step

In our 4-Week Loose Leash Walking Class, we focus on:
🐾 Teaching your dog HOW to stay connected to you
🐾 Building engagement before distractions
🐾 Understanding why pulling happens
🐾 Creating calm, successful walks
🐾 Helping handlers learn timing, rewards, and clear communication

Sometimes without realizing it, we actually reinforce pulling by continuing to move forward while the leash is tight. Dogs learn what works — and if pulling gets them where they want to go, they’ll keep doing it!

This class is designed to help set both dogs AND handlers up for success ❤️
Because walks should feel enjoyable again 🐶✨

Do you ever take your dog out just to sniff? 👃🐾

Not for fitness.
Not for training.
Not to “get somewhere.”

Just to let them explore the world at their own pace. 💚

A sniff walk is a chance for your dog to decompress and relax. Instead of focusing on distance or speed, we allow the dog to lead the experience through scent. 🌱

🐾 Use a longer line than normal
🐾 Choose a quieter area where your dog feels safe
🐾 Avoid busy roads, fast traffic, crowds, or overwhelming environments
🐾 Don’t rush them

If your dog wants to spend 10 minutes sniffing one patch of grass, that’s okay. 🌿
If they only move from one bush to the next tree, that’s okay too.

Sniff walks are about allowing dogs to slow down and process the world around them. For anxious dogs, overwhelmed dogs, adolescent dogs, or dogs who have had a busy few days, this can be incredibly beneficial. 💤

Big life changes, visitors in the home, exciting weekends, training classes, stressful events — all of these things can build pressure in our dogs. Giving them time to simply sniff and exist without expectation can work wonders. ✨

Sometimes the most valuable walks are the ones where we let our dogs just… be dogs. 🐶💚

If you already know the benefits of sniff walks show us a picture of your puppy on a sniff walk👇
