Ottawa Dog Rescue Ottawa Dog Rescue is a foster-based organization dedicated to helping abandoned, abused, and surrendered dogs find well-matched forever homes.

We help dogs in need through partnerships with shelters and rescue groups across Canada and internationally. Ottawa Dog Rescue was founded in August 2013 by a group of dedicated dog-lovers and experienced rescuers. We are an all-breed, foster-based rescue in the nation’s capital who have dedicated ourselves to helping abandoned, abused and surrendered dogs find well suited forever homes within the

Greater Ottawa area. Our mission is to be a transparent, accountable and professionally run non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs at risk in the Ottawa area. We have a great team of committed volunteers, foster homes and local veterinarians to help us achieve our goals. All of our rescue dogs are provided with temporary foster home care until we find them well-matched and carefully screened forever homes. Along with rescue, we aim to educate by bringing awareness to responsible pet ownership and the importance of spay/neuter. Rescue is about saving lives, and we will do what it takes to do rescue right, because too many lives are lost due to a lack of public awareness and resources. We want to be part of the solution and will strive to make a difference one dog at a time. The rescue is organized as an Ontario and Federal non-profit charitable corporation #1899733. 🌟 Welcome Wednesday 🌟

This week we're welcoming three new faces into Ottawa Dog Rescue 💕

🐶 Princess – 6 year old Toy Poodle

Princess is a tiny 6 lb sweetheart who is slowly coming out of her shell. She loves sunspots, cozy naps, and curling up on her favourite person's lap. Princess prefers to meet new people at her own pace, but once she feels safe, she's a wonderful little companion.

🐶 Romy – 5-6 year old Shih Tzu Mix

Romy's personality is beginning to shine! She has discovered her inner zoomies, loves her stuffies, and cuddling up beside her people and canine friends. While she's still building confidence around strangers, especially men, she's making great progress and has learned that cookies make new friends much easier. 🍪

🐶 Snoopy – 11 month old Mixed Breed

Snoopy recently arrived from Iqaluit. This cute boy was a little unsure at first but he's now eating well and becoming much more comfortable in his foster home. As he settles in, his personality has really started to shine, and we're excited to continue getting to know this handsome young boy.

Bring your empty bottles and cans into the store throughout June and help support rescue dogs in need!

🐾 June events include Plinko, a BBQ Bash, nail trims, adoptable meet and greets, and lots of other activities!

💛 While you're visiting, don't forget to purchase a paper paw in store. Every paw purchased helps support Ottawa Dog Rescue and the dogs in our care.

Every dog that comes into Ottawa Dog Rescue begins their journey in a foster home. These homes provide safety, comfort, patience, and love while dogs heal, learn, and prepare for their forever families.

Fostering is often the first step in a dog's second chance. It's where scared dogs learn to trust, puppies learn how to be dogs, and seniors find comfort and care.

The impact of fostering reaches far beyond a temporary home. It helps us learn about each dog's personality, needs, and quirks so we can find the best possible match for them.

This month, we celebrate the incredible people who open their homes and hearts to dogs in need. You may only be part of their journey for a short time, but the impact you make lasts a lifetime.

NAME: Indigo
AGE: 3 years
BREED: American Bulldog Mix
SIZE: Large (~60 lbs)

Indigo is a 3-year-old American Bulldog mix with soulful eyes, a gentle heart, and endless love to give. She is a true people-dog who thrives on companionship and wants nothing more than to be close to her humans. Whether it's going for a walk, playing fetch, exploring outdoors, or curling up on the couch for snuggles, Indigo is happiest by your side.

This sweet girl is energetic and playful, especially when it comes to chasing balls, carrying sticks, and enjoying her favorite squeaky toys. After some fun and exercise, she's more than happy to settle in for a cozy nap.

Indigo is exceptionally well-mannered, obedient, and eager to please. She is fully crate trained, non-destructive when left alone, and does very well with structure and routine. Her foster family describes her as loyal, affectionate, and deeply devoted to the people she loves.

While Indigo adores people, she can be unsure around other dogs and is reactive. She has been making progress with training and socialization, but she would be happiest as the only pet in the home where she can relax and shine. An adopter committed to continuing her training would help her reach her full potential.

If you're looking for a loving, loyal companion who will be your biggest fan and best friend, Indigo may be the perfect match for you.

🐾💛 Update on Frankie 💛🐾

Beanie and Frankie turned 7 weeks old on Saturday and have been growing so much. Unfortunately, this isn't the update we were hoping to share.

Over the weekend, Frankie developed a serious corneal ulcer. She is now receiving antibiotic eye drops every 4 hours to treat and prevent infection, along with pain medication to keep her comfortable.

As you can see, her eye is in very rough shape. We are doing everything we can to help her heal and hopefully save her eye. While we're staying hopeful, we know she still has a long road ahead of her.

Please keep little Frankie in your thoughts as she fights through this latest challenge. She's a tough little girl, and we're all rooting for her 💛🐶
