Christmas may be over, but the joy you created is still being felt 🎁🐾

Our foster pups had the best time opening their gifts, and every single one came from the generosity of our amazing supporters.

Stella is one of those dogs who quietly works her way into your heart. She is incredibly sweet and gentle, and while she can be a bit reserved at first, she warms up quickly and becomes a loyal little shadow. She loves companionship, soft cuddles, and being close to her people.

She is amazing with kids and has been a wonderful friend to a playful, larger dog in the home. She has not done well with the small senior dog she lives with, so she would be happiest in a home with a medium to large dog companion. When Stella first arrived, she struggled a bit with being alone, but having another dog around has helped her feel more secure.

Stella is generally quiet, but she will let you know when someone new arrives or when things get a bit busy. She would do well in many homes, but a calmer household where her gentle nature can really shine would be ideal. She enjoys her walks and then is content to relax quietly at home. She knows her basic commands, has good recall, and is very loving with people. She can be picky about her meals and prefers to graze, but she is always happy to work for cheese or sardines.

Stella is truly the sweetest dog. She has so much love to give and will be a deeply loyal, gentle companion to a family who gives her the time and care she deserves.

Stella is up to date on core vaccinations and is spayed.

NAME: Pancake
AGE: 4 years
BREED: Shih Tzu
SIZE: Small (15 lbs)

Pancake is a gentle little girl who can be shy at first, but quickly warms up when enticed with treats and an invitation to join you on the sofa for cuddles. Once she feels comfortable, she becomes a devoted companion who loves to be close to her people.

Quiet and affectionate, Pancake should have been nicknamed "Shadow," as she prefers to stay within sight of her foster parents at all times. She does not enjoy spending long periods alone and would do best in a home where someone is home more often than not. She would benefit from an adopter with patience who can support her as she continues building confidence and independence.

Pancake is currently an early riser, as she is healing from previous urinary tract infections and stones and needs to go outside earlier in the morning. This has already been improving and is expected to continue getting better. She will also need a home committed to maintaining her dental care. Her teeth are in good condition for a small dog, but regular brushing will be important to maintain her good teeth. 😃

Pancake wasn't crate trained in her previous home, but with the support of her foster family, she has become more comfortable resting in her crate at night with the door left open. She is fully house trained and enjoys spending time outdoors on mild days, though she definitely needs encouragement to venture out on those frigid days!

She currently lives in a home with a large dog, a cat, and a ten-year-old child, and has been thriving in a calm, quieter environment. Pancake has shown playful moments with small stuffed toys and enjoys gentle interaction rather than rough play.

Pancake is up to date on core vaccinations and is spayed. She will need to continue to stay on a prescription urinary diet until otherwise instructed by the vet.

🚨 RESCUE STORY: Meet Todd 🐾

Barely 8 months old and full of love, Todd came terrifyingly close to losing his life.

On December 4th we got an urgent call about a sweet lab mix pup at a local shelter who had just tested positive for parvo. He had been neutered the day before, had his first vaccines, and was still wagging his tail despite feeling awful. The shelter couldn’t hold him. If no one stepped up that day, he would be euthanized.

We couldn’t let that happen.💔

ODR committed to taking him and Todd was rushed to Alta Vista Animal Hospital for emergency care. He was weak and vomiting, but bloodwork showed a fighting chance. He was placed on IV fluids, antibiotics, and later needed a feeding tube to keep him going.

Thanks to fast action and expert care, after several days in hospital, Todd pulled through. He’s now recovering in foster care and getting stronger every day!

But we still need your help.

🧾 Todd’s emergency vet care has cost over $6,000.
💊 He’s still in isolation and needs ongoing meds and support.
🐶 He will be adoptable soon, but we need help to cover his recovery.
