Ottawa Dog Rescue Ottawa Dog Rescue is a foster-based organization dedicated to helping abandoned, abused, and surrendered dogs find well-matched forever homes.

We help dogs in need through partnerships with shelters and rescue groups across Canada and internationally. Ottawa Dog Rescue was founded in August 2013 by a group of dedicated dog-lovers and experienced rescuers. We are an all-breed, foster-based rescue in the nation’s capital who have dedicated ourselves to helping abandoned, abused and surrendered dogs find well suited forever homes within the

Greater Ottawa area. Our mission is to be a transparent, accountable and professionally run non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs at risk in the Ottawa area. We have a great team of committed volunteers, foster homes and local veterinarians to help us achieve our goals. All of our rescue dogs are provided with temporary foster home care until we find them well-matched and carefully screened forever homes. Along with rescue, we aim to educate by bringing awareness to responsible pet ownership and the importance of spay/neuter. Rescue is about saving lives, and we will do what it takes to do rescue right, because too many lives are lost due to a lack of public awareness and resources. We want to be part of the solution and will strive to make a difference one dog at a time. The rescue is organized as an Ontario and Federal non-profit charitable corporation #1899733. 🌟 Welcome Wednesday 🌟

This week we're welcoming two little guys into Ottawa Dog Rescue 🐾

🐶 Kenzo

8 year old Chihuahua. Kenzo is a gentle little soul with the cutest smile and the biggest eyes. While still a bit shy, he's becoming more comfortable each day and enjoys being close to his people. Cozy blankets and soft beds are quickly becoming his favourite things.

🐶 Alvin

12 year old mixed breed. Alvin is settling in well and slowly finding his confidence. His appetite is improving, he's claimed the couch as his favourite napping spot, and he enjoys exploring the backyard. He's also started to find his voice!

Alvin does have some medical needs, including alopecia, hypothyroidism, a grade 3 heart murmur, and dental disease. Additional testing is needed to determine if he can safely undergo dental surgery.

🐾💛 A special thank you to HoliRaw Nutrition 💛🐾

We want to send a huge thank you to HoliRaw Nutrition for their generous donation in support of Nala and her Fighting Four.

When HoliRaw saw Nala’s story, they reached out to help, and we are so grateful. Their donation of puppy and mama food, supplements, and other much-needed support helped provide important nutrition during those first critical weeks while Nala’s babies were growing, fighting, and getting stronger.

Only a small portion of their generous donation is shown here, but the impact was huge. This support helped us provide the care, comfort, and nutrition Nala and her four surviving puppies needed during such an important stage.

Community support like this makes a real difference. It helps us respond when dogs need us most, and reminds us that these dogs have so many people behind them.

Hi, I’m Romy and my foster fur-sisters are saying it’s time for me to pack my bags and find my fur-ever home – could it be you?

I’m maybe somewhere around 5 years old and I’m a Shih-Tsu mixed with who knows what but I do know I’m a bit of diva.

Here is what my foster-mom says – “Romy has come out of her shell and is loving life! She loves to cuddle on the couch and cheer on the Jays, and loves to go on sniff walks. She is working on being brave with new things, and is cautious around new people so needs some time to warm up but, once she knows you, she is an absolute sweetheart.”

Sudden movements startle me so maybe a home without little people would be best. I pretty much know that I’m supposed to go outside to do my business, and I’m most comfortable with women. I get along really well with my fur-sisters but I’m a little afraid of big dogs so slow intros are needed – I’m a little bit of a princess, you know.

Romy is microchipped, up to date on Core vaccinations and will be adopted on a spay contract.

Meet Princess! 👑

Princess is a 6-year-old Toy Poodle weighing just 4.6 pounds, but don't let her tiny size fool you, this little girl has a big personality and an even bigger zest for life!

Full of energy and curiosity, Princess loves daily walks, playtime, and being involved in whatever her human is doing. She's the kind of companion who will happily follow you everywhere, always eager to be by your side. That said, Princess also knows how to relax. She enjoys quiet moments in her bed, happily chewing on her favourite bone. Princess loves to stretch out in sunny spots on the floor or curl up by the fireplace, especially when she's close to her people.

She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she trusts you, she forms a strong bond and becomes incredibly loyal, your little shadow for life. Princess can be quite vocal when settling into a new environment as she learns the sounds and routines around her. She does best when visitors, especially children, give her space and allow her to approach on her own terms. Princess likes to observe, take everything in, and get a feel for people first. Once she's comfortable, she'll happily settle beside you or curl up in your lap. While she tends to feel a bit more comfortable around women, Princess has done well with men, respectful older children, other dogs, and even cats.

Princess can be a bit vocal when she first encounters other dogs, but she settles down quickly and is able to walk or play alongside them without any issues. She is crate-trained, comfortable staying in her crate while her human is at work, sleeps in it at night, and is fully house-trained. Princess requires regular grooming to prevent matting and will even let you brush her teeth as part of her bedtime routine.

This little girl is looking for a loving home where she can share her joyful spirit, affectionate nature, and loyal heart. If you're searching for a tiny package with a big presence, Princess might just be your perfect match.
