💙🐾 Meet Ash — Big Dog, Big Heart, BIG Personality!

Ash is a large-to-XL Chesapeake Bay Retriever with a brilliant mind, a loyal heart, and an impressive love for life.

This handsome boy is looking for a new home where he can settle in, build a bond with his people, and enjoy all the things that make him happiest.

⚽ BALL.
Ash is obsessed with his ball—especially his very special soccer ball, which absolutely must go with him. He loves fetch, but his favorite game is a little more impressive: throw the ball straight up and watch Ash leap into the air to catch it. His catching skills are seriously impressive!

💦 WATER.
True to his breed, Ash LOVES water. Lakes, rivers, kiddie pools, hoses—if there's water involved, Ash is ready to go. He could happily spend hours playing and splashing around.

❤️ LOYALTY.
Ash is friendly with people and dogs but does best with slow, thoughtful introductions. Once he knows you, he really knows you. Ash bonds deeply with his people and is incredibly loyal to those he loves.

👧 KIDS.
Ash was raised with children and continues to be friendly with them.

🐱 CATS?
Ash is not good with cats and will need a feline-free home.

Ash is an incredibly smart, active dog who needs a home that can keep his body and mind busy. He would do best with someone who understands large breeds and is ready for a loyal companion who wants to be involved in the action.

He's big, he's clever, he's athletic, he's obsessed with his soccer ball, and he'll probably try to turn every body of water into his personal playground.

Ernie has a very specific idea of what a good human is for: carrying him around.

This friendly little guy loves hopping onto people's shoulders and riding around like he owns the place. Why walk when you can simply climb aboard your human and let them do the work?

Ernie is a social guy who enjoys attention and loves having company, whether that means hanging out with his humans or spending time with his feline friends. He's also a pretty well-rounded fellow: he'll happily play when the mood strikes, accept some cuddles, and then settle in for a serious lounging session.

Basically, Ernie's schedule is pretty simple:
🐾 Make friends.
🖤 Get attention.
😴 Find a comfy spot.
🐱 Repeat.

Some dogs have a "stranger danger" phase.

Blue skipped that entirely.

As far as Blue is concerned, every person he meets is simply a friend who hasn't had the pleasure of saying hello yet. If you've got a pulse, he'll gladly greet you with a wagging tail, a happy grin, and enough enthusiasm to brighten your whole day.

This fun-loving Blue Heeler mix is always ready for his next adventure. Whether it's a long walk, a game in the yard, exploring somewhere new, or just hanging out with his favorite people, Blue is happiest when he's on the move and included in the action.

Like any good Heeler mix, he's an active, intelligent guy who enjoys keeping both his body and mind busy. When he's had a chance to burn off some energy, he's more than happy to soak up attention and remind you just how affectionate he can be.

The Battlefords Humane Society would like to sincerely thank the Estate of Hedy Wing (Schulkowsky) for their incredibly generous donation of $100,000.

$100,000 presented by her nephew, Daryle Wing. Hedy and her late husband, Gerald Wing, farmed in the Hatherleigh District for over 40 years, and had a deep love for animals on her farm.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and the many animals whose lives will be touched by this generosity, thank you to the Estate of Hedy Wing (Schulkowsky) and the Wing family for this meaningful legacy of compassion.

💙🐾 Happy Tails: Callan (now Zeke!)

One of the best parts of what we do is hearing how our former shelter pets are settling into their new homes, and Zeke (formerly Callan) sounds like he's living his very best puppy life!

His family recently sent us this wonderful update:

"Hello! I just wanted to share how Callon is doing. His name is Zeke now. He’s grown so much already. He’s had his rabies shot and vet appointment, and they said he’s doing great. He’s not afraid of the TV anymore! He still wants to play with the cats, but he's getting better with 'leave it.' His recall isn't quite there yet, but that's okay—it's a process, and he's not even five months old. We start puppy training lessons on Wednesday at Puppy Luv in Lloydminster. He loves everyone and wants to meet every person and dog he sees. I work at HomeSense, where animals are welcome, so we go there to socialize a couple of times a week, and we visit PetSmart too!"

We couldn't ask for a better update. ❤️

It sounds like Zeke is growing into a confident, happy, and social young pup, and it's clear his family is putting so much time and love into helping him become the best dog he can be. From puppy classes to regular socialization outings, he's getting a fantastic start to life.

Thank you for giving Zeke such a wonderful home and for sharing this update with us. Seeing our shelter animals thrive is the greatest reward, and we can't wait to watch him continue to grow! 🐶💙

💙 Supporting Pets, Supporting Rescue 💙

We're incredibly grateful to Over the Valley Pet Cremation for choosing to give back to the animals in our care.

For every pet cremation they provide, $2 will be donated to the Battlefords Humane Society. It's a simple act of kindness that will make a meaningful difference for the dogs and cats who rely on our community while they wait for loving homes.

Losing a beloved pet is never easy, and we're thankful to partner with a business that not only provides compassionate aftercare for families but also helps give other animals a second chance.

Hi, I’m Lucky 🐾🤎🤍

I’m a senior brindle and white gentleman with a very important job in life: making friends and acting like I’ve been best buddies with everyone I meet my whole life.

I came in from west of Unity with my pal Spike, and we’ve clearly been through a few adventures together. I’m the more outgoing one of the duo—happy to say hello, check things out, and generally assume people are here to adore me (which, honestly, is usually correct).

I enjoy wandering, companionship, and keeping an eye on things alongside my quieter partner-in-crime. I may be a senior, but I’ve still got plenty of charm and enthusiasm left in the tank.

Meet Kellie 🐾🐯
This stunning brindle girl looks like a little tiger — but her personality is all heart. 💛
Kellie joined us as a transfer from Northern Transitional Dog Rescue, and she has been quietly stealing hearts ever since. She is incredibly affectionate and always wants to be glued to your side. If you stand still for more than a second, you’ll likely find her burrowing into your legs and standing right underneath you. That’s her safe place — tucked in close to her person.
Kellie is mostly house trained and does well with routine. She loves companionship and bonds deeply with “her” humans. She isn’t the type to be independent and aloof — she wants to be part of whatever you’re doing.
She can be a little nervous when it comes to new activities or unfamiliar situations, but with a bit of encouragement and reassurance from her people, she absolutely thrives. Once she knows she’s safe, her confidence blossoms and her sweet, loyal personality shines through.
Kellie would do best in a home that offers patience, consistency, and lots of affection. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty and the kind of love that only a velcro dog can provide.
