Sleepy Sunday! 😴 Sunday’s are all about resetting for your week, and that’s exactly what Timmy intends to do today. He’s all tucked in ready and for a cozy day! Hopefully soon enough it will be on a couch and in his forever home🙏🏻🧡
Sweet Maddy is an adorable Exotic Shorthair who’s been such a brave girl! 💕 She recently had bladder stone surgery and is feeling so much better, she is back to her gentle, purring self.
Maddy is looking for a loving indoor-only home with no other pets, where she can be spoiled and adored like the queen she is. She’s incredibly soft, loves quiet company, and will melt your heart with her big, soulful eyes✨
As the BC SPCA joins Canadians on Remembrance Day to honour & thank those who have served & continue to serve, we also honour PTSD service dogs changing the lives of veterans.

A few weeks ago, we teamed up with the City of Nanaimo to bring humane education to the City’s Pro D Day Camps!
Through fun, hands-on sessions, kids learned about kindness, empathy, and responsible animal care — helping to build a more compassionate community for both people and pets. 🐶🐱
A big thank-you to the City of Nanaimo for partnering with us to inspire the next generation! 🙌

🐾 Community Kindness Spotlight! 🐾
A huge thank you to Samantha Lynn, a kind local who recently gathered second-hand pet items from our community to donate to the Parksville and Nanaimo BC SPCA branches! 💚
Their generous collection included 148 toys, 40 harnesses and collars, 4 cozy beds, and many other much-needed pet supplies. These donations make such a difference for the animals in our care — and we’re so grateful for this thoughtful act of compassion! 🐶🐱💖

It goes to show that with a little love and patience, even the most nervous and uncertain cats can blossom into happy, confident companions. We’re so grateful for adopters who open their hearts and homes to give our animals a second chance at the life they deserve! ✨
"Here is an update on Flurry, the spicy little 6-pounder I picked up from the Nanaimo branch about 6 weeks ago. When I met her, she was visibly uncomfortable with her environment and was hiding in a small cat house, hissing and striking at any hands that got too near. There was some concern that she would have trouble rehabilitating after an unfortunate start in a hoarding situation followed by a stint at the shelter. I brought her home with me, despite my uncertainty that I would be able to help her in the ways that she needed.
Anyways, she hid for two days behind some speakers in the dining room, then she woke me up at 4am on the third day demanding attention and pets. She decompressed after that, then slept for 24hrs curled up in a fleece robe, got up and ate a few days worth of food, and she's been a little princess ever since. Turns out I didn't have to do anything other than give her some space. She still likes her hidey-holes, but the spiciness has completely abated and now she welcomes pets and seeks out comfort. Most of the time she's either on someone's lap or scrunching her face up to complain about a lack of treats. She doesn't like being picked up yet, but I'm wearing her down. ❤🥰
In accordance with her fresh start, I've renamed her Tater. Attached are some pictures of Tater laying claim to her new kingdom. Just wanted to let everyone know that she landed on her feet!"
