Welcome Dr. Kyna Kruger!

Dr. Kruger has been with us since January! Here is a little bit about her:

- She graduated from AVC
- She has a dog and a cat 🐾
- Favourite animal: dolphins
- Favourite surgery to perform: routine soft tissue surgeries
- Favourite part of your day: getting to meet new patients and their owners
- Favourite part of veterinary medicine: helping a sick pet get to go back home to their owners ❤️

With the warmer weather today, it’s a good reminder that fleas and ticks are active now! Any time the temperature is 4 degrees and above, those pesky little parasites are actively looking for a host (like your cat or dog) to feed on! Here is a quick video on how to remove a tick, but if you find one and don’t feel comfortable removing it yourself you can always come in and we can do it for you. We also have tick twisters available at the clinic, to make removal easier.

With temperature fluctuations this time of year, checking the weather forecast helps you decide if you need sunglasses, snow boots, or a sweater! But what about ticks - could ticks be active in your area today? Visit https://www.tickmaps.ca/ to check the tick risk forecast. Ticks can be active even when there is still snow on the ground, and 1 in 5 black legged ticks you encounter could be carrying the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.

We are still selling tickets on these fundraiser baskets! $2 each or 3 for $5. All proceeds raised go directly to the Miramichi SPCA the draw will take place on January 20th! Payment can be made by stopping into the hospital and paying cash, or by sending an e-transfer to [email protected].
