It’s National Veterinary Technician Week 🐶🐾💕
Vet techs often get overlooked. They’re not just an assistant to the vet, they do so many things people often assume the vet themselves do. If your pet is getting x-rays, it’s not the vet taking those x-rays. If your pet is getting bloodwork, it’s not the vet taking the blood and running it. If your pet is having surgery, it’s not the vet preparing, intubating and monitoring vitals. Veterinary technicians have such a wide range of skills and knowledge, they remember your pets and notice if something changes with them. They care about your pet’s wellbeing and will advocate for them. They are sneaking in cuddles with your pets that are hospitalized or staying for surgery. They are attending continuing education courses every year to stay up to date in the ever changing field of veterinary medicine. If you catch a vet tech that maybe doesn’t seem as happy, they could have just helped a family say goodbye to their pet before going into your appointment with your new puppy or kitten. They could have had to help an owner come to a decision after an unexpected diagnosis. It’s a great week to thank a vet tech for all that they do ❤️ their hard work often goes unnoticed, but they continue to do the best job they can do for your animals.
