It’s National Veterinary Technician Week 🐶🐾💕

Vet techs often get overlooked. They’re not just an assistant to the vet, they do so many things people often assume the vet themselves do. If your pet is getting x-rays, it’s not the vet taking those x-rays. If your pet is getting bloodwork, it’s not the vet taking the blood and running it. If your pet is having surgery, it’s not the vet preparing, intubating and monitoring vitals. Veterinary technicians have such a wide range of skills and knowledge, they remember your pets and notice if something changes with them. They care about your pet’s wellbeing and will advocate for them. They are sneaking in cuddles with your pets that are hospitalized or staying for surgery. They are attending continuing education courses every year to stay up to date in the ever changing field of veterinary medicine. If you catch a vet tech that maybe doesn’t seem as happy, they could have just helped a family say goodbye to their pet before going into your appointment with your new puppy or kitten. They could have had to help an owner come to a decision after an unexpected diagnosis. It’s a great week to thank a vet tech for all that they do ❤️ their hard work often goes unnoticed, but they continue to do the best job they can do for your animals.

**Arlo has found his perfect 🏠
This handsome hunk is still looking for his forever home! He has made some progress with our two clinic cats, so he would be able to go to a home with other cats. He still wants to be the boss, so he would do better in a home where the other cats are okay with that. He needs someone that understands the adjustment period will take months, if he’s going to a home with other cats. He is great with kids, loves to cuddle, and just loves to be around people. If you’re interested in meeting this boy, give us a call!

We have the privilege of having students with us for the next little while, so we thought we should introduce them. Kyra is here doing her OJT, she completed the Veterinary Technician program at Oulton College in Moncton. Travis is here for his co-op placement from JMH. We love being able to offer these placements to students as it is an opportunity to inspire the next generation of veterinarians, technicians and assistants. We believe that hands-on experience is invaluable, and through engaging mentorship and exposure to real-world scenarios, students can gain a deeper understanding of what veterinary medicine truly entails.
