Kitten season is in FULL swing, and we DESPERATELY need foster homes for pregnant cats. 💔

When mama cats have their babies in a shelter environment, they are extremely vulnerable. The noise, stress, and constant activity can make it very difficult for them to safely give birth and properly care for their newborn kittens. What they truly need is peace, quiet, and a safe place to nurture their babies. 🐱🍼

✔️ Any veterinary care that may be required

All you need to provide is a calm space, love, and patience. ❤️

Do you have a passion for animals and a strong work ethic? The Miramichi SPCA is looking for a dependable and compassionate individual to join our team.

📅 Position Details
• Every second weekend
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Sunday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• Minimum wage
• Ideal for a college or university student seeking part-time employment

🐱 Responsibilities
• Cleaning and disinfecting animal areas
• Feeding and caring for shelter animals
• Monitoring animal health and behavior
• Laundry and housekeeping duties
• Assisting with adoptions and customer service
• Other duties as assigned

⭐ Qualifications
🚗 VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND RELIABLE VEHICLE REQUIRED

🎓 HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA REQUIRED

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, cleaning, and standing for extended periods
• French is considered an asset

🐾 Meet Hunter 🐾

Hunter is an approximately 2 year old neutered male looking for a very special adopter—someone who understands that trust is earned, not given. Rescued from a large feral colony a few months ago, Hunter was extremely timid around people. Thanks to the patience and dedication of his foster family, he has made incredible progress and is now ready to find his forever home ❤️

When settling into a new environment, Hunter will need a quiet space of his own. Covered hideaways, cozy blankets, and little forts are his favorite places to feel safe ⛺️ It may take several weeks—or even a couple of months—for him to fully adjust, but once he decides you're trustworthy, his true personality shines.

The shy cat hiding under the blankets transforms into a total sweetheart. Hunter has a powerful purr, loves head bonks, eagerly asks for pets, and absolutely adores playtime. Toys are a great way to help build his confidence and bring out his playful side 🧶🎋

Hunter would thrive in a calm home with someone who understands that progress takes time. He may do best as the only cat, though a patient household willing to allow a very slow introduction could potentially make another feline companion work.

This sweet boy has so much love to give—he just needs someone willing to wait for it. If you find joy in earning the trust of a shy cat and watching them blossom, Hunter may be your perfect match 🧡💛

❤️ SUCCESS STORY ❤️

Meet JJ (formerly Ken)!

This big guy came to the shelter from a colony, and I think I can speak for us all when I say he was...scary. Sometimes we needed two people to even clean his cage! He had no trust at all in humans. A few months of hissing and swatting later, he turned into the snuggly boy we know and love!

Ken was at the shelter for many many months, until he was finally adopted by his new family! As you can see in these beautiful photos, he is clearly loving life! His new family says he loves to watch birds fly over the river, and gives big love bites. He also LOVES to snuggle. We knew you could do it, JJ! ❤️
