This event is coming up fast!!
A familiar face will take to the stage at a childhood-cancer fundraiser in Courtenay this month and the Tsolum Veterinary Hospital staff will be there to volunteer!!! Come say hi and have an evening of fun 🤩
CHEK News’ Ed Bain plays guitar in Big Font, the group providing the rock’n’roll at a beer-burger-and-band event at Chances Casino on May 22. These guys will rock 🤘🏻 your socks off!!!
But the popular broadcaster’s musical efforts will pale beside his biggest contribution to the cause: in June, Bain and CHEK colleague Jeff King will be among the nine cyclists riding from Victoria to Port Hardy and back non-stop in the End2End relay.
The 1,000-kilometre bike relay and associated End2End fundraisers – such as the casino event – will benefit the Island Kids Cancer Association, a small, grassroots charity that provides aid to the families of Vancouver Island children blindsided by the disease.
People in the Comox Valley have already shown a willingness to support the End2End initiative. Among the ways they’re helping:
• The Chances event is from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, May 22, with music starting at 8. Tickets are $30, available at the casino. Entry covers a beer, burger, the band, and a casino free-play. There will be a 50-50 draw and silent auction.
End2End’s Sandra Boyd will be at Chances from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, selling tickets 🎫
• The Tsolum Veterinary Hospital in Merville is donating 100 per cent of dog wash proceeds (just buy a $12 token and plunk your pooch in the facility’s automatic dog wash) to End2End. This cause is deeply personal for practice owner and childhood cancer warrior Nicole Garneau.
In addition to her Paws2Paws fundraiser, the clinic is paying to clothe End2End volunteers.
Staff will be at the event helping sell 50/50 tickets.
Come and help us support the children of Vancouver Island.
