It's true! 🎉

Many of you have been asking about Dr. Krista, and we're excited to share that she is returning to Island Tides from her maternity leave for occasional shifts this summer and will be back to a regular schedule in early Fall 2026!

As one of our founding veterinarians and co-owners of Island Tides, we've all missed having Dr. Krista Huxham around the clinic and we're thrilled that she's beginning her return. She has been on maternity leave since Fall 2025 and enjoying precious time with her growing family.

Keep an eye out for Dr. Krista around the clinic this summer and watch for more information as she resumes her regular schedule this fall.

Meet Dr. Sophie Scotter!! 🩺

Dr. Scotter officially joined our Island Tides team after locuming with us since the Fall. She brings a wealth of knowledge with her and enjoys getting to know her patients and their caregivers. She has a passion for optimizing the health and comfort levels of senior dogs and cats, in addition to providing medical and surgical care for pets of all ages.

We are thrilled to be working alongside Dr. Scotter. Please join us in a warm welcome for her! 💐

Pictured with Dr. Scotter is one of our star patients Betty Boop who was having weekly splint changes for a forelimb fracture. Betty loved coming in for her bandage changes (because obviously it meant snuggles and treats ☺️ ) and we all love her sweet disposition. Good news for Betty - she recently graduated from her splint-wearing days and gets to walk without a bandage now! Go Betty, go!

Since joining our team last summer—right in the middle of our busiest season—Mya jumped in seamlessly and quickly became an integral part of our Island Tides team.

Mya is a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She is incredibly knowledgeable and confident in her skills, and always ensures our patients receive the highest standard of care. She is an excellent teacher and collaborator with the team.
