🦟 Heartworm Prevention Reminder!

Heartworm disease is spread through mosquito bites and can cause serious damage to your dog’s heart and lungs — often before you notice any symptoms.

In Southwestern Ontario, mosquitoes put pets at risk each year. The best protection is:
✔️ Monthly heartworm prevention
✔️ Annual heartworm testing

Prevention is simple, safe, and much easier (and more affordable) than treatment.

🐾Victoria Day Long Weekend Safety Tips 🐾

The long weekend is a great time to relax and enjoy the warmer weather with your pets — but holiday weekends can also bring a few seasonal hazards. Here are a few reminders to help keep your furry family members safe:

🌭 Keep BBQ foods away – Fatty foods, bones, onions, grapes, alcohol, and desserts can all be dangerous for pets.

🎆 Fireworks can be stressful – Keep pets indoors during fireworks and make sure collars and ID tags are up to date in case they become startled.

🦟 Stay on parasite prevention – Ticks, fleas, and mosquitoes are active! Remember to check your pet for ticks after spending time outdoors.

🌷 Be mindful of toxic plants & products – Fertilizers, mulch, citronella products, and some outdoor plants can be harmful if ingested.

🚑 If your pet experiences an emergency while we are closed on Monday May 18th for the holiday, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

Wishing everyone a fun, safe, and relaxing Victoria Day weekend! 💙🐶🐱

Parasites are more than just a nuisance. They can spread serious diseases and make pets very uncomfortable if left untreated. The best protection is prevention before exposure happens.

✔️ Keep your pet on veterinarian-recommended parasite prevention
✔️ Check for ticks after walks and outdoor adventures
✔️ Don’t forget—even indoor pets can still be exposed

If you’re unsure what protection your dog or cat needs this season, our team is happy to help create the right plan for your pet. 💙

📞 Contact us to discuss parasite prevention options or to book your pet’s spring wellness visit.

Is your pet itching, scratching, or licking more than usual? 🌼🐾

Spring allergies are very common in both dogs and cats, and they can make this beautiful season pretty uncomfortable for our pets. Unlike people, who tend to sneeze and have watery eyes, pets often show allergies through their skin.

Common signs to watch for:
🐾 Itchy skin or excessive scratching
🐾 Licking or chewing paws
🐾 Red, irritated skin
🐾 Recurrent ear infections
🐾 Hair loss or hot spots

Allergies can be triggered by things like pollen, grass, mold, or even dust. And while some pets only have mild symptoms, others can become quite uncomfortable without proper treatment.

The good news is—there are many ways we can help! From prescription medications to dietary support and skin care options, we can create a plan tailored specifically to your pet.

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, don’t wait—early management can make a big difference in your pet’s comfort and quality of life. 💙

📞 Give us a call or email to book an exam or to discuss your pet’s symptoms.

20 years is no small milestone, and Jessica has made every one of them count. As our front office manager, she’s been the calm in the chaos, the friendly face everyone relies on, and someone who truly cares about both our clients and their beloved pets. Her dedication, warmth, and experience have meant so much to our team and to every person—and pet—who walks through our doors. And of course, for 20 years she’s also been keeping Dr. Oster on task (no small feat!). We’re incredibly grateful for everything she brings, each and every day.
