A very special birthday shoutout to Cooper, who stopped by to celebrate an incredible milestoneโ€”15 years young! ๐Ÿ’™

Fifteen years of tail wags, treats, adventures, and being the best boy around. We always love seeing his sweet face and are honored to be part of his healthcare journey.

Meet Sebastian ๐Ÿ’™

Sebastian, a Paws it Forward Dog Rescue puppy, arrived in foster care last week. Within the first 48 hours, his foster noticed something wasn't right. He wasn't eating, was extremely lethargic, and simply wasn't acting like the playful puppy he should be.

After some testing and a day of supportive care with us, Sebastian still wasn't showing the improvement everyone had hoped for. With his symptoms persisting, the team at Paws It Forward made the decision to transfer him to Fairfield for closer monitoring and further care.

After a day and a half at Fairfield, Sebastian was finally cleared to return to his foster home. His foster had to work today, so we happily stepped in to puppy-sit this handsome goofball for the day.

We're thrilled to report that Sebastian is feeling much more like himselfโ€”full of energy, personality, and all the puppy antics we've been waiting to see. In fact, he spent the morning keeping us on our toes with some serious puppy shenanigans before finally crashing for a well-earned nap. Watching him snooze peacefully after a busy morning of play is a sight we're very happy to see. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ค

We are incredibly grateful for the strong relationships we have with rescues and organizations throughout the Okanagan. Working together allows us to provide the best possible care for animals like Sebastian when they need it most.

Keep shining, little guyโ€”we're all rooting for you! โค๏ธ

Some patients come in for their appointment. Prynne came in to make sure the treat supply was fully stocked and up to her standards. ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ’•

After a thorough inspection (and several samples), she gave her approval.

๐Ÿพ Homer stopped by today for a weight check and we're happy to report his weight-loss journey is still on track! ๐ŸŽ‰

Of course, Homer couldn't just pop in and leave. After checking the numbers, he decided to hop behind the front desk, answer a few emails, and make sure the clinic was running smoothly. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿถ

We're still waiting on those email replies, but his smile tells us he's feeling pretty proud of his progress! โค๏ธ๐Ÿพโœจ

๐ŸŒพ Tiny Plant, Big Problem! ๐Ÿพ

This little culprit was removed from a patient's paw today. What looks like a harmless piece of grass is actually a spear grass (grass awn), and it can cause some serious discomfort for our furry friends.

Because of their sharp, barbed shape, spear grasses can work their way into the skinโ€”most commonly between the toesโ€”causing pain, swelling, redness, limping, and infection. Unlike a splinter, they often continue to migrate deeper into the tissue if left untreated.

As the weather warms up and grasses dry out, we're seeing more of these cases. After walks, hikes, or adventures through tall grass, take a moment to check your pet's paws, ears, and coat for any hitchhiking awns.

๐Ÿšฉ Signs to watch for:
โ€ข Excessive licking or chewing at the feet
โ€ข Limping
โ€ข Swelling between the toes
โ€ข Redness or drainage
โ€ข Head shaking or ear scratching
โ€ข Sudden discomfort after being outdoors

If you notice any of these signs, give us a call. Early removal can help prevent a much bigger problem later!

Have you ever found a spear grass stuck in your pet's paw or ear? Let us know below! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ
