☀️ Warm days mean hot pavement! 🐾

A sunny day is perfect for getting outside with your furry best friend—but don't forget that pavement heats up much faster than the air around us.

🌡️ At just 25°C, asphalt can reach 52°C.
🌡️ At 30°C, it can climb to 57°C.
🌡️ And at 31°C, pavement can soar to a scorching 62°C—hot enough to burn sensitive paw pads in seconds.

🐾 Try the 7-second test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you can't comfortably hold it there for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws.

To keep your four-legged friends safe:
🐶 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
🌳 Stick to grass or shaded trails whenever possible.
💧 Bring plenty of fresh water and watch for signs of overheating.

A little planning goes a long way in keeping tails wagging all summer long! ❤️🐾

🐾☀️ Coco and Charlotte stopped by the clinic yesterday to remind everyone that the hot weather is on its way! ☀️🐾

While these two cuties make sitting in the shade look easy, our furry friends can overheat much faster than we do. As temperatures rise, remember to keep walks to the cooler parts of the day, make sure plenty of fresh water is available, and never leave pets in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.

Coco and Charlotte's official summer message? 🐶💕 More naps. More treats. More air conditioning. Less chasing squirrels in the midday sun.

Stay safe, stay cool, and don't forget to give your pets a little extra TLC during the heat wave! 🌞🐾💙

☀️🐾 When you can’t make it to the lake, bring the cooling station with you!

Henele, our Chief Canine Officer, and his trusty sidekick Goose, out for a stroll in their cooling jackets.

These jackets are a great way to help keep your pup comfortable on warm days by using evaporative cooling to lower body temperature while they're on the go.

While cooling gear can be a helpful tool, it’s still important to avoid the hottest parts of the day, bring plenty of water, and watch for signs of overheating.
Henele's official review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Would wear again. Especially if treats are included."

How does your dog beat the heat when a swim isn't on the schedule? 🐶💦

Comfort isn't just a bonus—it's part of our care. 🩷🐾

Whether your pet is spending the day with us for surgery, supportive care, diagnostics, or just a little extra TLC, we believe every patient deserves to feel safe, warm, and loved.

From cozy blankets to thoughtful little touches, our team goes above and beyond to make every stay as stress-free and comfortable as possible. Because to us, they're never "just a patient"—they're family. 💕

Another amazing bed display from the wonderful tech Eve, we can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

🚫👂 Unwanted roommates? Not on our watch!

Ear mites may be tiny, but they can cause BIG irritation. If your pet is scratching their ears, shaking their head, or has dark, coffee-ground-like debris in their ears, it might be time for a visit.

These pesky parasites are most common in cats, but dogs can catch them too—especially if they live with an infected cat. Since ear mites spread easily between pets, it's always a good idea to have the whole furry family checked.

We'll help evict those tiny troublemakers, get your pet feeling their best, and make sure every brave patient gets the treats they deserve! 🐾💙

Frank and Harvey heard someone say 'treat'... 👀🍪

While treats are always appreciated, the best treat you can give your furry friend is their annual wellness exam! Yearly check-ups help us catch health concerns early, keep vaccinations up to date, and ensure your best friend stays happy and healthy. 🐾❤️

Don't worry—we'll make sure everyone leaves with plenty of treats, too! 🦴✨

Meet Sebastian 💙

Sebastian, a Paws it Forward Dog Rescue puppy, arrived in foster care last week. Within the first 48 hours, his foster noticed something wasn't right. He wasn't eating, was extremely lethargic, and simply wasn't acting like the playful puppy he should be.

After some testing and a day of supportive care with us, Sebastian still wasn't showing the improvement everyone had hoped for. With his symptoms persisting, the team at Paws It Forward made the decision to transfer him to Fairfield for closer monitoring and further care.

After a day and a half at Fairfield, Sebastian was finally cleared to return to his foster home. His foster had to work today, so we happily stepped in to puppy-sit this handsome goofball for the day.

We're thrilled to report that Sebastian is feeling much more like himself—full of energy, personality, and all the puppy antics we've been waiting to see. In fact, he spent the morning keeping us on our toes with some serious puppy shenanigans before finally crashing for a well-earned nap. Watching him snooze peacefully after a busy morning of play is a sight we're very happy to see. 🐾💤

We are incredibly grateful for the strong relationships we have with rescues and organizations throughout the Okanagan. Working together allows us to provide the best possible care for animals like Sebastian when they need it most.

Keep shining, little guy—we're all rooting for you! ❤️
