๐พ After Every Walk: Do the 2-Minute Summer Safety Check! ๐ฟ
Living in the Okanagan means enjoying amazing walksโbut summer also brings ticks and speargrass.
๐ท๏ธ Check for ticks ๐พ Check for speargrass.
Speargrass is especially dangerous because its tiny barbs allow it to travel inwardโBUT NEVER BACK OUT. Once it enters the skin, ears, nose, eyes, or paws, it can continue migrating deeper into the body, causing painful infections and, if left untreated, often requiring costly surgery to remove.
Take two minutes after every walk to check your dog's:
๐ Ears ๐ Nose ๐๏ธ Eyes ๐พ Paws (especially between the toes) โค๏ธ Armpits & groin
If your dog is suddenly licking a paw, shaking their head, sneezing repeatedly, squinting, or develops a painful swelling, give us a call.
A quick check today could prevent a much bigger problem tomorrow.
