From time to time people tell me, “Lighten up, it’s just a dog,” or, “That’s a lot of money for just a dog.” They don’t understand the distance traveled, time spent, or costs involved for “Just a dog.” Some of my proudest moments have come about with “Just a dog.” Many hours have passed with my only company being “Just a dog” provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day. If you, too, think its

“Just a dog,” you will probably understand phrases like “Just a friend,” “Just a sunrise”, or “Just a promise”. “Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. “Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of “Just a dog” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. For me and folks like me, it’s not “Just a dog.” It’s an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. “Just a dog” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that SOMEDAY people can understand it’s not “Just a dog.” It’s the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “Just a man or woman.”

So the next time you hear the phrase “Just a dog”, smile, because they “Just Don't Understand”.

Some happy faces once again. Just a reminder I will no longer be breeding dogs by 2028. Next year I will be down to only 2 litters. Someday will be One day a memory. I thank you all for that.

I haven’t had to whelp out a litter for a long time and now I know why I passed this job onto someone else. She started at midnight and delivered 9 pups. Done 5 am this morning. Always hated those late night deliveries. Pups all well, healthy and spoken for. Sorry

Millie and Rummy have successfully been bred and Millie is due April 21. Millie and Rummy both have their Junior Hunt Titles. These would be great hunting companions and/or family companions. We have two spots available on this litter.

This is Millie’s last litter before she retires from my program. For those of you who remember Zoomba, Millie is her daughter.

Attention: Pheasant Hunting at its finest in Little Fort BC.

Jim and I opened a new hunting lodge fall of 2025 and it was a huge hit with lots of cover and excellent birds raised by BC Pheasant Company in Chilliwack. After 20 years hosting these hunts which started in Cabri Saskatchewan to Douglas Lake Ranch it was time to pass it on.

Rebecca her husband Karl and their son Buck will carry on my legacy for 2026 moving forward in Little Fort.

I would like to thank all our new and long term clients who became great friends that supported Someday Retrievers pheasant hunt operation.

Check out Wild Wing Adventures and book your 2026 hunt today before spots are sold out. Best experience ever.

Gourmet meals, premium accommodation (double occupancy), and exclusive access to private hunting grounds featuring 30 released pheasants per person.

So I spent 4 hours cleaning up this big boy yesterday and then let him out back in 6’ fence area only to see him jump the fence. There was no way I could catch him. He was moving. He ended up at Carlson Hill Kennels. Thanks to Ashley Carlson who drove the owner around the back side of our properties he was caught by owner only to get covered in mud on the belly. Grrrr
Last time I just assume a dog will come when called. My dog training skills must be getting rusty. From now on only on leash. Owner was very gracious about it all. 🥴😖
