Here is how we protect ourselves from radiation damage while taking x-rays of your pet!🧑‍⚕️🐾🩻

Any healthcare professional who is repeatedly exposed to high radiation without proper protection is at risk for the DNA inside their cells to become permanently damaged.

We wear personal protective equipment pictured here such as goggles, thyroid shields, gloves and a gown which are all made with lead. Lead has a very high atomic density allowing it to efficiently absorb and scatter X-ray waves preventing the radiation from penetrating sensitive tissues and vital organs.
