A few things to know:
• They grow to about 3–4 inches.
• They love caves, rocks, and places to hide.
• They are not community-safe with slow fish or shrimp and may snack on snails.
• Best kept in a species tank or with suitable tank mates.
• A tight-fitting lid is a must—they’re excellent climbers!

🐍 Meet the Incredible Rope Fish! 🐍

Looking for something completely different than the average aquarium fish? Meet the Rope Fish (Erpetoichthys calabaricus)—one of the most unique freshwater fish you’ll ever own!

With its long, eel-like body and curious personality, the Rope Fish glides through the aquarium like a tiny freshwater dragon. Don’t let the looks fool you though—these fascinating fish are peaceful, intelligent, and quickly learn when it’s feeding time.

💚 Did You Know?
✅ Can grow up to 18–20 inches long.
✅ Can live 10–15 years with proper care.
✅ Breathes atmospheric air and will occasionally swim to the surface for a gulp—completely normal!
✅ A close relative of the Bichir and part of one of the oldest groups of fish still living today.

🏡 Care Tips
• Minimum 75-gallon aquarium (bigger is always better!)
• Loves driftwood, caves, plants, and a sandy bottom.
• Peaceful with larger community fish and cichlids.
• Enjoys frozen shrimp, worms, carnivore pellets, and other meaty foods.

⚠️ One Important Tip!
Rope Fish are famous escape artists! Be sure your aquarium has a tight-fitting lid with all gaps covered—they’re surprisingly strong and can squeeze through tiny openings.

These amazing fish are true conversation starters and make an unforgettable addition to the right aquarium.
