What a great message from Shaleena!
There is nothing wrong with second opinions or integrating multiple professional perspectives.
Don’t feel bad for advocating or being the most informed about your pets health, mobility and wellbeing.
After all, they cannot openly tell us what’s wrong! You know as a dog owner how your dog is on the most personal level - their quirks, personality, odd behaviors, etc.
Don’t be afraid to advocate and trust your gut!
Hi! I wanted to share a photo of me and Rally doing something we love and share an important announcement with you all.
Rally and I love spending time in the forest, hiking mountains, swimming etc. To do this his body needs to be fueled efficiently and kept in tip top shape. Two years ago, this was not an option for us.
Rally had on and off pain, so we went to our vet. We go no real answers other then it might be this, so we went to another one and was told his knee was likely the cause. This didn't sit right with me. So we got a referral to a specialist.. Still no answer. We went to another vet while doing some rehabilitation exercises to try and see if we find a problem or replicate the pain as it was intermittent. Finally, we thought we were getting somewhere but soon hit a dead end again. Back to the specialist we went where I said I wasn't leaving until we did a CT scan and see what the heck was going on.
He had a partially herniated disc. Okay now we can work with this! He ended up needing surgery as his injury had been there for a prolonged period of time and no amount of rehabilitation would help.
Rally made a full recovery!
What's my announcement then? Do not be afraid to get a second opinion. Ask questions, seek out other professionals, try a canine physio or nutritionist. Sometimes we get things wrong and someone else might have more experience in that area or has possibly seen that same problem before. There are also alot of ways to help support your dog from the inside out and help speed up the healing process.
There are many things can be treated with nutrition, rehabilitation and time, including many diseases or conditions.
I understand money plays a huge factor on this as well. I am grateful I had insurance for Rally so it helped immensely when I was fighting for answers. We would have found them but it would have taken us alot longer.
Always advocate for your dog and don't be afraid to seek out another opinion. ❤️
