Spaying a rabbit is a routine procedure, but what happens when your rabbit is a senior? My 6-year-old bunny had her spay surgery, and I was given the rare opportunity to be in the operating room. This video documents the entire experience, from the moments leading up to the procedure to her first steps of recovery.

As I watched, I learned so much about the process and the importance of spaying, especially for older rabbits who are at high risk for uterine cancer. It was a nerve-wracking but ultimately rewarding experience. In this video, I share the details of the surgery, what to expect, and the crucial post-op care that made all the difference for my Bailey.

If you have a senior rabbit or are considering a spay for your own bunny, I hope this video helps. It’s a reminder that their health is our greatest responsibility.
