Phynn's Adoption Story ❤️

When Stephen and his wife decided it was time to add a new family member to their home in November 2024, they didn’t know they would get the ultimate sign from the universe that their perfect match was waiting, but that’s exactly what happened ✨

It was love at first sight the moment the pair laid eyes on a little black lab named Phineas (now Phynn). And what they learned next was nothing short of kismet: Phynn’s date of arrival at the shelter was the exact day the couple was married.

“When we first met him, we knew right away he was the one for us,” Stephen recalls 💙

Since then, Phynn shows his new family every single day that they made the right choice in choosing him to love. His companions describe him as a ‘love bug,’ 🐞 often opting to spend his time cuddling up with Stephen and his wife.

But when he’s not soaking up much-deserved affection, the young pup will never say no to a nice, long walk and some playtime with his canine and human friends. He’s truly a social butterfly who continues to flourish in his loving and supportive environment 🦋

We’re so happy Phynn is spending his days watching the world go by from his very own spot at the window of his perfect home 🏠 💕

We’re proud to share an important milestone: the Edmonton Humane Society is now Humane Canada Accredited!

This third-party accreditation confirms that we meet rigorous standards for animal welfare, care and governance — and reflects the work our staff and volunteers do every day to provide safe, compassionate care for animals and the people connected to them.

EHS is the first shelter in Western Canada and one of only three in the country to earn this distinction.

Murphy and Ole's Adoption Story ❤️

Being chosen as a cat's 'person' is truly an honour. For Kenny, being chosen as the perfect guardian for two kitties is a feeling he won't forget 🐱 🐱

Kenny first met Murphy at EHS in 2009 and Ole when visiting again in 2023. Both boys were affectionate and sweet to everyone they met, but it was Kenny they seemed to gravitate toward the most. He knew both times that they were the right fit for him, and he for them. Now, they spend their days cuddling, playing and making furry friends.

"I love how they both have similar personalities," Kenny mentions. "Sweet, affectionate, social butterflies 🦋 that get along with any of my other cats or my buddies' dogs, even."

And while the two of them chose Kenny as their closest companion, they've also grown to form a special bond with one another. "Ole loves taking care of his big brother, Murphy, by snuggling with him and often grooming him," Kenny tells us.

Sounds like the sweetest match 😻

We're so glad Murphy and Ole were able to find their purr-fect home — not just with Kenny, but also with each other 💙
