The Cambridge and District Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and providing shelter and comfort to the needy animals of the Cambridge and District community in Ontario, Canada. The Cambridge and District Humane Society promotes and ensures the health, safety and humane treatment of animals through public education and the provision of care and shelter for those animals in need within our community. We Believe:

❤️FEEL GOOD FURIDAY
I just wanted to send you an update on Bowie (Sunday) because we’ve hit the 6-month mark since we adopted him (half a year has flown by!)
Bowie is doing really good, and his goofy personality has brought us so much joy and laughter (and maybe a few tears here and there). He’s still incredibly food motivated, but that’s made teaching him tricks and training super easy. His favourite activities are chewing on his chew toys, running around our parents backyard, and sniffing every single tree, leaf, and stick on his walks.
We were super curious what he’d look like once he started growing - and one of our favourite things so far has been how his ears have stuck completely straight up. Most times when we meet a new person, that’s one of the first things they comment on.
We love him very very much, and are so happy to have him in our family!!

💕FEEL GOOD FURIDAY
Just want to let you know that Willow (formerly known as Octavia) is doing great!! She was very timid and hid for a couple of weeks but one day she emerged and has become our best buddy. She follows my husband and I around everywhere, loves exploring and playing, and is very affectionate.
Thanks so much for your support with her adoption and for your guidance in helping her to gradually settle in!

Sure, I'm missing a leg, but I'm definitely NOT missing out on life! I've still got plenty of love to give, personality to share, and a whole lot of cat-titude to bring to my future family. 😻
The only thing I am missing? A HOME OF MY OWN! 💔

Patient update: I've been living at the shelter since July 2nd, and I'm starting to think my discharge papers have been lost! 😩
Every day, I watch people come and go, and I keep asking the same question...
WHEN DO I GET TO GO HOME?! 🏡
I've been a very patient patient, but this doctor's orders are getting pretty clear:
💊 One dose of a loving family.
❤️ Unlimited belly rubs and affection.
🏡 A lifetime prescription for couch cuddles and being someone's very best friend.
Prognosis? I desperately need a home! And the only treatment that will do is someone falling in love with me and taking me HOME. ❤️

I've been waiting for my forever home since June 11th. Do you know how many of my shelter friends have found their happily-ever-afters while I've been here watching from the sidelines? TOO. MANY. 😭
First, they pack their bags. Then they leave with their new families. And me? Well, I'm still here, wondering when it's MY turn!
I'm happy for my friends, really I am... but a girl can only be so patient before she starts wondering if she's been left out of the group chat. 💅
So, here's the deal: I'm Pinky, I'm ready for my next chapter, and I'd really love to stop being a professional wedding guest at everyone else's adoption party!

ZERO. ZILCH. NOT A SINGLE ONE. 😔
Sad but true. I've been here waiting, hoping that someone will see my face, read my story, and decide that maybe I'm the missing piece of their family.

🚨 WE'RE EMPTY AGAIN. OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOUR HELP. 🚨

Here we are again, asking for donations of pet food for our Emergency Pet Food Bank. 💔

Every month, this program helps feed hundreds of animals in our community whose families are struggling to make ends meet. For many, this support makes the difference between keeping a beloved pet at home and facing the heartbreaking possibility of having to give them up.

But right now, OUR SHELVES ARE EMPTY. We cannot continue providing this vital service without the generosity of our community.

🐾 OUR MOST URGENT NEEDS:

Dry cat food

Dry dog food

There is NO specific brand required. Any brand is appreciated, and every bag makes a difference!

💛 Smaller bags are especially helpful. Many of the people who rely on our program walk or take public transportation to pick up their food. Smaller bags make it easier for them to get this much-needed food home.
