California horses, we've got a pretty good retirement plan for you 🌾🐴

After years of showing up, giving their all, and taking care of us, they deserve a next chapter that's all about them.

At Wachter Horses, our retirement program offers a place for horses to enjoy their well-earned golden years, with room to roam, herd companionship, attentive daily checks, and a team that understands just how much these horses mean to their people.

For our California friends, we're making the transition a little easier! We have limited trailer availability in November for retirement horses travelling from California to Alberta, Canada.

Whether your horse is ready to hang up their competitive shoes or simply enjoy a slower pace of life, we'd love to help you explore what retirement could look like. Send us a message to learn more about our retirement program in Alberta and November hauling opportunities.

A new chapter for the Wachter Horses lesson program, and we couldn't be more excited!🐴

We're thrilled to welcome Val Edwards of Edwards Farms as we move into a new season of riding lessons at Wachter Horses!

With Val's experience, knowledge, and passion for teaching, we're looking forward to continuing to create a welcoming environment where riders can build confidence, develop their skills, and discover everything there is to love about horses.

Our English riding lesson program is designed for beginners and developing riders, with a focus on show jumping fundamentals, horsemanship, and all the important things that happen both in and out of the saddle. Lessons include learning about the horses care, preparation for riding and equipment as much as they include learning to ride!

Registration is now open for our Winter Riding Semester beginning December 2026! Whether you're brand new to horses or looking to take your riding to the next level, we'd love to welcome you into the Wachter Horses lesson program.

Spaces are limited, and we're currently accepting riders onto our waitlist for the upcoming semester. Learn more and join the waitlist here:

A little appreciation post for someone who has been such an important part of the Wachter Horses TEAM 🖤

Over the past few years, Meghan Dermott has poured her time, knowledge, and dedication into our lesson program, helping riders build their confidence, develop their skills, and grow their love for horses along the way.

As Meghan moves on to her next adventure, we want to take a moment to thank her for everything she has contributed to our program and the riders who have been fortunate enough to learn from her.

The good news? She's not going far! We're lucky to still have Meghan around the barn. As one chapter closes, another begins! Stay tuned as we'll be introducing our new lesson program coach and sharing what's next for lessons at Wachter Horses very soon ✨

Thank you for everything, Meghan!

No matter the ring, the height of the jump, or the arena beneath our feet, one thing remains consistent: the equipment we trust to get the job done.

From developing young prospects to competing at the highest levels, every ride matters. And when you're committed to bringing out the best in every horse, the details make all the difference.

We're proud to partner with CWD, a brand that shares our appreciation for quality, performance, and the importance of the horse-and-rider connection. Wachter Horses proudly rides CWD!

🐴 Your horse's next chapter deserves the right team behind it!

At Wachter Horses, we're proud to offer professional Sales & Consignment opportunities for a select number of quality horses.

We believe successful horse sales are about more than simply finding a buyer. They're about understanding the horse, recognizing their potential, presenting them professionally, and connecting them with the right people.

Our program combines experienced training, competition opportunities, professional marketing, and an established network of buyers throughout Canada and the United States.

With opportunities for horses to be represented from our Alberta facility or join us on the Florida winter circuit, we're able to offer exposure tailored to each horse and their individual goals.

From promising young prospects to seasoned competition horses and quality amateur mounts, our focus remains the same: bring out the best in every horse we represent and find the right fit for their future.

We're proud of the reputation, relationships, and program we've built at Wachter Horses. Above all, we value the trust that comes with having someone place their horse in our care.

If you're considering selling and looking for a team that will put genuine thought, effort, and experience behind your horse, we'd love to hear from you.

Please contact Lynne or Beda Wachter with your horse's age, height, experience, asking price, photos, and videos to discuss potential representation.

The kind of retirement we’d choose for ourselves!

Good friends, wide open spaces, quiet evenings, and a schedule that consists mostly of deciding where to graze next. These horses have spent their lives giving so much to the people who loved them. There’s something pretty special about getting to watch them enter a chapter where nothing is asked of them anymore.

Retirement at Wachter Horses in Alberta Canada, welcoming horses from all over Canada and the USA.
