Some pasture update news!

Flirt headed for home last week and is already out adventuring with his mom! Can’t wait to continue hearing about all his successes and endeavours!

He was so fun to start with such a perfect baseline mindset.. watching him consider and apply information the way he did was astonishing, truly a “born broke” kinda guy. We will definitely miss him, plus it’s always such a treat to have an Arab in for training. 😉

Please enjoy some BTE photos of Flirt during his time with us! 📸❤️

Stay tuned for some new horses coming in soon!

First camping trip in the books! ⛰️⛰️⛰️

2.5 days out on Abraham lake with Tipsy, Toby & Siege (& Revel lol)… lots of miles covered, hills climbed and tons of cute pony time!

Thankful for strong, fit and willing horses who kept us safe and carried us all over the Bighorn…. in exchange for lots of treats and head scratchies of course!

Hopefully will get out to the mountains again soon this summer… enjoy some photos from the trip!
(and a couple videos in the comments) ⛰️❤️

Our two resident baby boys, Raine & Doc are doing great and being super adorable!

(They’re very good at that 😉❤️)

Both boys are now going under saddle, Raine is about a month ahead of Doc… to add to the adorableness Raine is perfectly happy ponying Doc so they are getting to work together even more, once I get more rides on Doc maybe he will be able to pony Raine and that just be too cute!

Will try to get another update on these 2 soon!
Check comments for a video of Raine & Doc out and about together! ❤️

Harbinger’s Newest Client: Sunrise☀️

Meet Sunrise! A 3yo QH filly who is in to be started! She is currently working her way through her ground work / first ride prep month with flying colors! She is kind, willing and very fun to work with… stay tuned for more on this lil lady!

PS: isn’t she so cute!! 🥰

Very first bridge crossing for Donkey, Folger (both handled by Naomi) and Flirt… you’d think they had done it hundreds of times! 🤩🤩

This sunken little bridge in the woods is an excellent intro to bridges as it is very low profile. Proud of our brave client ponies!

Freya + Elias & Jake + Trevor did great too 😉

Donkey Update:

We are becoming very fond of Marcus the mule, he has made great progress on his manners and herd bound issues, revealing a truly amazing partner… he is so fun to have around and has even transitioned into helping me with some c**t starting!

Looking forward to spending a 3rd month with our long eared friend through June!

Enjoy a few donkey photos of the silly donkey doing donkey things! 📸❤️

PS - can you tell he loves Naomi ?? 😆

Harbinger’s Newest Clients:
Raine🧡 & Doc💛

These two adorable baby boys are the newest members of the pasture! Here’s some info on them!

Raine🧡 - Raine (chestnut pinto) is a 3yo grade gelding who is in to be started. He has actually just finished his first month with me and is all set to start doing some outdoor riding. Currently he has a couple rides in the round pen but stay tuned for a first ride out from him! This baby is so very sweet with an incredibly calm demeanour! 💕

Doc💛- Doc (buckskin roan) is a 2yo grade QH gelding who just arrived last week to be started. So far he is as smart and self confident as he is cute (very)!!! Doc is the 1/2 brother of Rebel (a c**t I started last year)… Rebel was such a standout, awesome c**t to work with so to say I’m excited to start his bother is an understatement!! 🤩🤩

Welcome boys! 🥳🥳

Just wanted to share this awesome video made by Flirt’s owner Rita during our ride this past weekend!

Flirt has one full month under saddle and just look at him go, what a fantastic boy he is! The future is bright for this one! 🤩🤩

Here’s a question I get asked a lot…. How do we create horses who are confident going out alone?

There’s many pieces to the puzzle, but one of the most important “pieces” is creating comfort away from home… but how do we do that?

By constantly seeking opportunities to show our horses that they are not alone (but instead just out with us), that we are advocates for their safety, and that it’s okay to just stop and hangout when we aren’t at home… home isn’t the end goal in terms of comfort and relaxation, it’s just where we eventually end up.

Here Merlin is demonstrating a great (and easily overlooked) moment of comfort creation… not only did this 3yo go on his solo trail ride, but when I hopped off to walk him in (home is not within sight) he asked to stop and eat some grass.

You want to delay going home and instead sit with me and calmly eat some grass? Absolutely buddy ❤️

Another update post, have quite a few things to get posted so let’s get started!

🔸Harbinger’s Newest Clients:

Flirt❤️ & Marcus🖤

❤️Flirt is a coming 4yo Arab c**t who is in to be started and get some experience out on the trail so he can join his momma on all her trail/mountain adventures! This cutie is so friendly, easy to work with and is check marking his way through his “first ride prep” month like a champ!

🖤Marcus is a broke to ride, 16 yo mule who comes from a previous client! He is such a personable and sweet donkey but he has some very serious herd bound/insecurity issues that we are hoping to address. I have never met a more “in your pocket” mule and I hope that with time and confidence Marcus will hit his stride and become the best version of himself that he can!

Welcome Flirt & Marcus! 🤩🤩

🔸As for horse change over, Monet and Abbie headed for home and wishing them and their owners all the best!

🔶 A real highlight, since her respiratory issue diagnosis in November, Jay J has been off work, received surgery, recovered and was given the all clear to return to work last week! I put my first ride back on her on Thursday and she didn’t miss a beat, we headed straight to the bush in the river valley near her home to check out some new potential trail and she calculated, back tracked and bush whacked with me like the steady mount and friend she has always been. ❤️❤️ As a coming 4yo who has been through so much recently and sat for 4 months I couldn’t have been prouder with her first ride back, more from her soon I’m sure!

🔸Finally, on a bit of a somber note my project horse received a poor diagnosis for an Appaloosa related ocular issue that resulted in me having to make the choice to put him down as the condition was promptly degenerative and any treatment to delay the inevitable would have been traumatic due to his low level of comfort around strangers. Peaches never gave up his wild spirit and I know his soul is at peace free from pain and confinement…
Sadly though there will be no further updates from him.

🔸 Stay tuned for more and check out the captions under individual photos for horse names/more info!
