This little sweet pea is Sophie and can you believe she is almost 20 years old! Definitely not the oldest dog I've groomed but certainly close!
Today was my first time giving her a haircut and let me tell you she is full of s***k at her old age and I quickly discovered that yes, I need an extra set of hands for this little one 😁🙃
I just love my old dogs and I am so grateful to all of my clients that trust me with their precious pets 🙏🙏

When people discover that I am a pet stylist, they immediately think OMG you must have so much fun and have the coolest job! Or OMG you get to play with puppies all day! I mean yes, I have lots of fun at my job and there are certainly a handful of cute puppies, but fun and play is definitely not how I describe my line of work.

19 years in and my body is probably that of an 85 year olds and I work out 5 days a week and have 2 kids, so chronic pain is the biggest downfall of my profession, ask any groomer out there. From back pain, neck and shoulders are absolutely destroyed and don't even bring up your hands and wrists, they're toast! Knowing all I know though, I'd probably still choose this line of work if I had to do it all over again. I absolutely love being able to help out the dogs but also the pet parents.

Today was a hard day, I had one of the hardest dogs I've ever had to groom in all 19 years of my career. Only one other dog takes first place and that is an old dog of a family member of mine from years past that had a neurological issue.
I've been grooming this current dog since last fall and have been working with it and the owner to try and make the process as easy as possible for everyone because it is not a fun time, but with the patience of a saint, I get it done.

Who wants to take a wild guess on what breed these top two difficult dogs are and were?
One hint, they are not the same breed 😁

I had the pleasure to give this adorable little guy his first haircut the other day at my other location Puppy in My Pocket Grooming , where you can find me Mondays through Wednesdays however the books are closed currently until announced

He stole all our hearts 💕🥰

This here was a new client named Aki and his before photo looks like he stuck his tongue in a light socket 😅
Being a toy Australian Shepherd, he was your typical nervous nelly and untrusting of new strangers, but by the end of our session was warming up a bit to me and I'm hopeful that we'll be able to continue working on building that trust

So my cousin Holly put me to work today 😅

She brought me her absolutely adorable 1 year old farm dog Ruby.
Ruby has never been groomed before and she rocked it!
Her coat was very compacted but with a little elbow grease and like 5 baths, I managed to get her looking like a whole new dog!
I will most likely be finding her hair around the house for weeks 😆
