๐พ Itโs at Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward!
Weโre ending the week with full hearts and empty kennelsโbecause so many wonderful animals found their forever homes. Our generous community has come together and surprised us with some amazing gifts and donations! Itโs been a week of wins and weโre here to share them with you!
๐ Eddie was surrendered to us a couple weeks ago due to no fault of his own. He was in good condition and already neutered, this allowed him to make his debut rather quickly! His striking good looks paired with an oh so sweet personality, we knew Eddie would begin a new life very soon! His new parents are wonderful! They met Eddie over several visits and brought his new sister in to make sure she approved. It was love at first sight, and another forever match made! Remember Macaroon who was adopted last week, well, she lives just down the street from Eddie and his new family, and we sense puppy playdates in their future! Congratulations!
๐บ The Good Times Line Dancers from Kenron Estates invited members of our team to a line dancing sesh earlier this week! We brought Bunny the big, bold and beautiful bully mix along for the ride and she made friends with everyone! This amazing group donated $1000 to help support the animals of HSHPE. They taught us a few moves while we were there too! We thank you so much for your generosity!
๐Link was brought in through animal control mid month. He was held for his stray period but unfortunately wasnโt claimed. Link was vaccinated, treated for parasites and neutered before heading home with his new dad! We love a short stay and are so happy to see Link start his forever! Congratulations to you both!
๐ฅฐ Ellen attended volunteer orientation last week with her parents and had some great questions during training! She couldnโt wait to chat with staff afterwards because she made catnip toys for the kitties and was hoping to deliver her gifts! All the cats approved and think Ellen is the puuur-fect volunteer! She recently helped out with the family garage sale and sold handmade bookmarks, bracelets and catnip toys. Ellen raised $50 for the animals here. Thank you for being a champion for the cats in our care!
๐ธ We had the very talented Dave Carnahan in to photograph animals for a very special paw-liday feature launching on December 1st. ๐ The countdown to the 12 Strays of Christmas is on! We canโt wait to share these stunning howli-day pictures with you!
๐ฝ Iris arrived as a stray in June, she was brought to us by a member of the public who found this single, teeny tiny kitten all alone. She was only a few weeks old and needed help! Iris was placed in foster care where she grew big and strong. She suffered from some gastrointestinal issues and after weeks of treatment, and a diet tailored to her health she improved greatly! Once spayed, Iris was finally ready to head home with her new family! Congratulations!
๐คฉ Kim is spreading holiday cheer and brightening the lives of animals who are patiently waiting for their second chance. She stopped in with hand crafted bone, fish and carrot stockings she had made for the cats, dogs and rabbits! Meowy Christmas Kim!
๐ถ Abby was adopted back in 2023 and unfortunately surrendered back earlier this month. She didnโt show well in a kennel environment and would bark nervously at visitors. Itโs important to remember, shelter/kennel behavior isnโt how dogs behave once they have a chance to settle into home life, alongside a family willing to work with them. It takes patience to build a bond, and her new family recognized that. They were familiar with Abbyโs breed and came in to meet her multiple times before they walked out the door with their new best friend! Congratulations to you all!
๐ฅณ Bingo! We keep telling you, it PAYS to PLAY at HSHPE! We had 3 winners this past Tuesday! Rebecca and Karen each won $65 and Rylan was enjoying a fun date night and happened to win the $350 consolation prize! All first-time bingo players! Congratulations and thank you for supporting a great cause! Friendly reminder, there will be no TV Bingo at the shelter this Tuesday December 2nd due to an important Giving Tuesday event (but you can still play at home)! We look forward to welcoming you back on December 9th and wish you all the luck!
๐ป Bridget came to us as a stray back in September. It appeared she was nursing but unfortunately no kittens were found. She was vaccinated, treated for parasites and once her milk dried up Bridget was spayed. She was adopted but wasnโt getting along with other animals in the home and within a week was surrendered back into our care. Itโs so important to allow animals who are overwhelmed with new experiences, a new home, and new furry friends the time they require to decompress. Introductions to existing pets and visitors should be very gradual and drawn out, giving your new pet a room of their own as they acclimate to their new life is the key to success. Slow and steady is how you can help ensure harmony among your pets. Thankfully Bridget was given another chance and here she is with her forever people! Congratulations and thank you for choosing to adopt!
โ๏ธ Enjoy a wonderful weekend! We hope to see you today or tomorrow between 12-4:30 to view adoptable animals! We have a wide array of amazing animals, waiting for someone to give them a second chance!
