From Baby To Barrel Horse

From Baby To Barrel Horse Follow along on the journey of our first foal from birth to future barrel horse. I’ll also share life with our horses, pets, and fun farm life adventures!

Since we didn’t make it to the barrel race, Chris finished putting our riding mower back together.

Of course our “su-purr-visor” and unhelpful helper was there to make sure Chris did everything right.

We were on our way to our first barrel racing series of the year when the weather took a turn for the worse and we decided to scratch.

There were so many tornado warnings on our way home (our emergency alerts kept going off). It’s quite a long drive for us and we didn’t want to get caught in anything too crazy.

Looking forward to the next one!

Quick little project to try and make life a little more efficient! I get tired of flipping hitches around every time I want to use something.

Spent a few hours getting the outdoor arena in shape. The unhelpful helpers came to inspect my work. It will take a few more grooming sessions to get it really nice, but this is a good start.

It looked like our horses were plotting something nefarious on the first day of the Cain Quam barrel clinic. Is this what you think your horses sound like?

Allis got her new (rebuilt) starter put in and she’s purring like a kitten again (a slightly sick kitten… but still a kitten). Our unhelpful helper Oatmeal decided to supervise while Chris put the starter in.

You’ve all met Allis… now let me introduce you to her little brother Johnny!

He was feeling left out so decided to cause us some trouble too.

Sigh… Here’s Johnny!

Allis gave us a bit of a scare… this time it was smoke!

My heart skipped a beat when I looked up and saw smoke coming from the other side of the tractor. I swear Allis is trying to make our life difficult.

One of these days Allis…

A bit of evening grass, their favourite time of the day! Everything is so slow getting going this year, normally they’d be on full pasture by now.

Our big girl keeps getting bigger! I like big butts and I can not lie 😬.

Angel’s safe date is June 4th… after that we can rest a bit easier. I keep telling her she’s cooking up a champion in there. I wonder how big the foal will be. Any guesses?
