We are a Victorian based rescue that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs. RE146926 Welcome to our page!

We are a newly formed Gippsland based dog rescue. We are a strong team of close friends who have all been working passionately in rescue for many years combined. We decided now was the time to come together and start our own rescue. This allows us to fully dedicate our passion of animals and animal rescue into developing a rescue based on our vast experience. We will cover all of Victoria and hope to branch out interstate in the future. Our rescues will come from pounds, shelters and community re homing. All of our rescue dogs will be vet assessed and treated as soon as they come into our care. They will also be temperament tested. They will be desexed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations and worming etc before being re homed. Our adoption process will not be first to apply but based on who we believe will best suit each individual dogs needs. We are a family based rescue and welcome you to help with fundraising, promotion and possible foster care. Please email us at [email protected] or send us a msg on facebook for further info.

Buddy is still looking for his Furever Home

This energetic 4.5 year old ruby Cavie is still on the hunt for his furever home. He has a beautifully big persona with a bark to match. He is best suited to a no cat household with secure fencing and yards. He loves people and gets on well with other dogs.
He needs energetic owners who understand that he has a heart as big and loud as his bark.
If you believe you can give him the home he deserves. DM us for a meet up.

❤️🐾 MEET BUDDY – LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 🐾❤️

Meet Buddy, a 4.5-year-old Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a big heart, a love for life, and a bark that makes sure you know he’s around! 🐶❤️

Buddy is happiest when he’s spending time with his people, playing a game of fetch, or heading out for a walk. He’s a loving boy who wants to be part of the action and find a family to call his own. 🥰

🐾 A little bit about Buddy:
🎾 Fetch is one of his favourite things!
❤️ Loves being with his humans
🚶‍♂️ Enjoys going for walks
🏡 Crate trained
📣 Has a big voice and isn’t afraid to use it!

Buddy does have a few things his future family will need to understand. He has a high prey drive, so he will chase birds and cats, and his recall isn’t the best. He’ll need a family who can keep him safe, manage his chasing instincts, and work with him on his training. 🐦🐈

The good news? Buddy is ready to start his next chapter! He is fully vaccinated, desexed, microchipped, and has just had a dental. ✅

Now all he needs is someone to see the wonderful dog behind the loud yap and give him the love, patience, and security he deserves. ❤️

🏡 Could Buddy be the missing piece in your family?

📩 Get in touch with Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc to find out more about adopting Buddy and giving this sweet boy his happily ever after.

Please share to help Buddy find his forever home! 🐾❤️

🐾 BARKIN MAD ULTRA 2026 — WHAT A WEEKEND! 🐾

What a way to wrap up another Barkin Mad Ultra! ❤️

Across the two days, we had 135 runners and walkers and 110 incredible dogs take on the trails — all while raising an amazing $13,015 profit, going directly towards helping dogs in need across the Baw Baw Shire. 🐶❤️

A huge THANK YOU to every single person who made this weekend possible — everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, donated, sponsored, supported, photographed, helped behind the scenes, brought their dogs and cheered from the sidelines.

Despite the challenges, the rain, mud and everything else Mother Nature threw at us, the passion and dedication of our community shone through.

This event is so much more than a race. It’s dogs running to save dogs. 🐕🏃‍♀️💨

From all of us at Barkin Mad Ultra and Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue — thank you for helping us make a difference. ❤️

Here’s to another year of muddy paws, happy dogs and making a difference! 🐾

🐾💙 Meet Bucky! 💙🐾

Bucky is a gorgeous 16-month-old Lab x looking for his forever family! 🏡🐶

This handsome boy is happiest when he’s with his humans and would love a family who enjoys having their dog by their side. Bucky is a big fan of sniffing and following his nose, so he would love plenty of walks, adventures and opportunities to explore all the wonderful scents the world has to offer! 👃🌿

💙 Bucky loves affection more than treats
🐶 Gets along well with other dogs
🐱 Confident around cats
🐔 Doesn’t chase chickens
🎓 Needs ongoing training and dog school
🧠 Needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation
🏡 Must have secure fencing
👧 Children haven’t been tested, but he will likely be fine with respectful children

Bucky is a clever, energetic young boy who is still learning how to be the best dog he can be. He needs a family who understands that a bored Lab is a destructive Lab! 😅 When Bucky doesn’t have enough to do, he can get himself into mischief, so his new family will need to keep his body and brain busy.

In return, you’ll get a loving, affectionate companion who would much rather have cuddles with his humans than snacks. 🥰

If you’re looking for a fun, loving and loyal young dog to join you on life’s adventures, Bucky could be your boy! 💙🐾

It is with a very heart that we say goodbye to a very special human being, Erme Saffrey. Erme passed away at home on Monday. Erma’s generosity to the rescue world was amazing, if she wasn’t sending donations, she was sending gifts to raffle. Her sense of humor, and pure love of all animals but especially pugs, will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Erme will go straight to the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge, where she will be met not only by her own dogs already passed, but by every little and big soul that was touched by her generosity and love
