Hair Of The Dog Rescue Inc We are a Victorian based rescue that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs. RE146926 Welcome to our page!

We are a newly formed Gippsland based dog rescue. We are a strong team of close friends who have all been working passionately in rescue for many years combined. We decided now was the time to come together and start our own rescue. This allows us to fully dedicate our passion of animals and animal rescue into developing a rescue based on our vast experience. We will cover all of Victoria and hope

to branch out interstate in the future. Our rescues will come from pounds, shelters and community re homing. All of our rescue dogs will be vet assessed and treated as soon as they come into our care. They will also be temperament tested. They will be desexed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations and worming etc before being re homed. Our adoption process will not be first to apply but based on who we believe will best suit each individual dogs needs. This is Ryder he is a sweet 15 old man whose living circumstances have changed and he has found the need for his final home.

He is fox terrier x cattle dog x staffy. He is toilet trained, loves children, doesn’t mind cats. He needs to be the one and only dog in the house.

For him to be at home and near his favourite water feature, the chicken and muffin, you made his transition so peaceful and comfortable. Thank you for being so dedicated to your profession. Why Trivia nights? Why ultra runs ?
The answer is easy, it’s not pleasant though… Boris is not winning, we are still struggling to give him every chance, Oreo our senior pig, we have five dogs in community that we support medically.. Times are not easy out there, people are under mortgage stress, we still assist with feeding Baw Baw food assistance, we want dogs to stay in their homes with their families. So we ask for your support for us to continue this work, our small charity is run purely by volunteers, every cent raised goes to the animals under our care.
So whilst having some fun, we hope to raise some good funds to keep us going for another year. We are grateful to our Baw Baw shire that we work with closely, to all the amazing people who have donated to us over the years. Recently all our medical fluids were given to the current fires. So there is so much you don’t see that we are doing.
So please join our wonderful team at the Pirate Trivia night, if you cannot attend please consider donating a prize, that will be raffled or auctioned, over the next couple of weeks we will show some of the amzing items that will auctioned or raffled, watch this space

GET READY TO GET ON LEASH!

BARKIN MAD ULTRA is Australia’s epic dog ultra run and we are back again for 2025.

It will be held on the 4/5th of October.

We will be again raising money for Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc charity.

Last year we raised $13,000 which will enable the charity to save approximately 13 dogs this year.

So if you and your four legged best bud want to challenge yourself then mark your calendars for February 28th and sign up for a race like no other!

Distances: Saturday (10km, 20km, 50km), Sunday (2km, 5km)
Location: Rokeby Rail Trail Victoria
Registrations open: 28 Feb 5pm

Australia Day Medallion

We are pleased to announce that tonight Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc received an Australian Day Medallion for service to community in relation to Barkin Mad Ultra.

HOTD has saved and rehabilitated countless dogs over the last 10 years. We have saved greater than 300 dogs and have raised over $315,000 approximately.
This award is recognition for the amazing work done over the years.

At Barkin Mad Ultra last year we raised 13,000 and we can’t wait to build on this bigger and better.

Thank you to the amazing team behind Hair of the Dog and our Barkin Mad Ultra team.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us through donation or providing a home to one of our beautiful rescues.

Thank you to all the participants who took part last year at BMU.

So we will see you at Trivia Night 2025 and get on Leash for Barkin Mad Ultra 2025!
