Hair Of The Dog Rescue Inc We are a Victorian based rescue that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs. RE146926 Welcome to our page!

We are a newly formed Gippsland based dog rescue. We are a strong team of close friends who have all been working passionately in rescue for many years combined. We decided now was the time to come together and start our own rescue. This allows us to fully dedicate our passion of animals and animal rescue into developing a rescue based on our vast experience. We will cover all of Victoria and hope

to branch out interstate in the future. Our rescues will come from pounds, shelters and community re homing. All of our rescue dogs will be vet assessed and treated as soon as they come into our care. They will also be temperament tested. They will be desexed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations and worming etc before being re homed. Our adoption process will not be first to apply but based on who we believe will best suit each individual dogs needs. RIP Oreo, today our profoundly inspiring four-legged pig, who courageously identified as a dog, embarked on a new journey to the rainbow 🌈 bridge, leaving an indelible mark on our lives. Though it never gets easier, we find solace in the kindness and dignity that surrounded him, as his rescuers, his gently made bed, and the warm sunshine all came together to make his transition a testament to the transformative power of love. Oreo was 15 years old.

CASTANO bathroom kitchen and laundry have been gold sponsors from the beginning.

To acknowledge the love and dedication they had to their beautiful Kobi we have named our 10km race after him.

He came to us as a neglect case as an older dog but he soon found a loving home close to the Hair of the Dog family.

He loved walks, a snuggley bed and chicken.

We lost Kobi just before last years race but his memory will live long in those who loved him.

Community Grants Sponsor

We are very grateful for all the support we have received from the Baw Baw Shire Council.

They approved a grant last year for $5000 for our race which helped us get the race off the ground. This year we have received another grant of $4774. This will help towards our insurances and a new marquee to replace our beautiful one that got damaged last year!

Did you know that approximately 200,000 dogs enter Australian shelters and pounds annually! A significant portion of around 34% of these dogs are surrendered by their owners and about 24% are strays picked up by council officers.

At Hair of the Dog Rescue we love to support the amazing work at the Baw Baw Shire Municipal Pound. We work with them on difficult cases and help take on dogs when we can. Last year we had three pound dogs at the race on the Sunday and we hope to do this again this year.

Thank you to the BawBaw Shire, Community Grants. Through this grant we will be able to fund a new marquee, for the Barking Mad Ultra Run which will be run in October at Rokeby. This event is important, it not only raises fund for rescue, it raises more awareness for rescue to our community and beyond.
