⚠️IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR AVIAN DISEASE OUTBREAK AND RISKS 🦠

🐧 Here at Torquay Animal House we pride ourselves on providing the best care and treatment to any and all wildlife that is presented to us, and we will always continue to do so!
❗️However, in light of some new Avian virus outbreak information from overseas, we are stepping up our in clinic avian disease management to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing.
😷These protocols apply to all wild birds, but especially sea birds and shorebirds, as they have the most disease transmission risk due to their migration patterns.
⚠️If you see a sick or injured wild bird, please be aware of all the risks of intervening with them and if you feel you must remove the bird from the situation it is in, ensure you follow these steps before transporting the animal to a vet or contacting a wildlife rescuer.
📍wear appropriate PPE (gloves, facemask and eye protection are reccomended)
📍keep the animal isolated
📍Call ahead to allow staff to prepare to meet you outside the clinic to keep in line with isolation protocols.

Older animals (just like some older humans!) can struggle more with their joints in particular as the weather starts to cool down, so thinking about getting on top of preventative care early is worth considering. 🩺 And as the old adage goes, prevention is the best cure! 🤍

The beautiful Tinkerbell was with us for a dental procedure today! 🐹🦷🪥
Not only does Tinkerbell have the most wonderful temperament, she also has gorgeous long white hair, two unique different coloured eyes and turns 16 years old this year! What a special girl 🤍
