Street Cat Alliance Qld

Street Cat Alliance Qld SCA is a small team of volunteers dedicated to helping cats in need throughout Toowoomba, Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley & Southern Qld.

SCA Qld is a small team of volunteers dedicated to helping community cats in need within the Toowoomba Region and throughout Southern Queensland. We rescue cats who have found themselves homeless for whatever reason – cats in regional pounds where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to overpopulation, cats surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances, abandoned and homeless s

trays, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We provide shelter, medical aid, vetting, and everyday care to these cats until their forever homes are found. TO DONATE:
As a not-for-profit charity organisation, SCA Qld does not receive government funding and all life-saving funds come from the generous donors who believe in our vision - to live in a community where no kitten is born wild on the street, and where no cat capable of living in a home is lacking one. Donations of money, time, and supplies are gratefully accepted. BANK DETAILS:

While our focus is always on our rescue cats and kittens in care, today is the day of the year that we pause and honour the precious little souls who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

Those who have passed too soon.
Who suffered more than any living creature ever should.
Who fought so hard to see another day, but didn't have the strength.
Who were born too early.
Who were abandoned in their time of need.
Who were too sick to pull through.
Who we loved when nobody else did.
Who we still think of and feel our hearts hurt all over again.
Those beautiful cats who we will never forget.

✨ Honouring Belle Vie Animal Rescue - Thank you for 8 wonderful years! ✨

On 30 July, Belle Vie Animal Rescue closed their doors permanently — on their 8th birthday. A milestone that should have been marked with celebration instead arrived with the kind of bittersweet reality that only rescue folk truly understand.

As we recently celebrated our own 5th birthday, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on just how much BVAR has meant to us, to our community, and to the thousands of dogs and cats whose lives were changed because of their work.

Belle Vie wasn’t just “another rescue”. They were a rescue built on ethics, compassion, transparency, and unwavering integrity — the very values that guide Street Cat Alliance. They treasured their volunteers, supported their colleagues, and championed other like‑minded rescues. They showed what rescue should look like, and we are honoured to have modelled our own rescue on the foundations they laid.

To Brooke — the heart, the founder, the soul of Belle Vie — thank you. Your leadership, your grit, your kindness, and your refusal to compromise on ethics have shaped rescue in Toowoomba and beyond. You should be incredibly proud of the legacy you’ve created. The blood, sweat, tears, and triumphs of eight years will continue to ripple outward for a very long time.

While we will miss BVAR terribly, we wholeheartedly understand and respect the need to step back for personal and family reasons. Rescue asks so much of us — often more than people ever see — and choosing to prioritise wellbeing is an act of strength, not loss.

SCA is honoured to have been entrusted with BVAR’s assets as part of their formal wind‑up. We will use them wisely, ethically, and in the spirit they were given. Dog‑related items will be passed on to other rescues who share the same values that guided both BVAR and SCA. Their legacy will continue to support animals in need — just as they always intended.

And for those wondering what comes next… keep your eyes open. A new rescue will be emerging in Toowoomba in the coming weeks and months — one that will carry forward the same heart‑first philosophy that Belle Vie championed.

To the entire BVAR team:
You won’t be forgotten. You won’t be replaced. And you will always be part of the story of rescue in our region. 💕

Thank you for eight extraordinary years.

🎂 FIVE YEARS! 🎂
Today, Street Cat Alliance Queensland officially turns five years old 🎉 — half a decade of rolling up our sleeves, rescuing cats, and refusing to give up on the ones who needed us most 🐾

This year’s birthday graphic features our current foster girl Bee, along with a visual representation of every life we’ve saved — 456 tiny cat heads and one dog bone (because yes, we rescued one very confused dog along the way 🐶). It’s a snapshot of just how far we’ve come.

Five years ago, I registered our business name and ABN, hit “submit” on our ACNC charity application, and hoped like hell that this little dream would survive. I knew it would be hard. I knew it would be messy. I did not know it would become a community of the most compassionate, generous humans I’ve ever met ❤️

This rescue is my heart and soul — but it’s our volunteers who keep it beating. Our SCA Squad has grown into a family: compassionate, thoughtful, generous, and occasionally dragged in kicking and screaming. You’ve stayed, you’ve cared, you’ve laughed, you’ve cried, and you’ve saved lives. I am so proud of us 💚

To the amazing rescues, vet clinics, and retailers who’ve stood beside us: your support has meant the world. And to our sponsors, donors, adopters, and cheerleaders — your kindness has helped us rescue 456 cats and kittens over these five years. Yes, we’ve said goodbye to some beautiful souls along the way 🌈, but each one crossed the rainbow bridge with a full belly, warm bed, and love — often for the very first time.

Every SCA cat has received vet care, desexing, microchips, vaccinations, parasite treatments, and quality food. We’ve taken on tick paralysis, car strikes, broken bones, amputations, emergency surgeries, disease, dog attacks, snake bites (yes, they do get inside), and dental work that many rescues simply couldn’t take on. And we did it because every life mattered.

And the best part? To date, 386 of those cats are living their happily‑ever‑afters in loving homes 🏡. If you’ve adopted an SCA kitty, please drop a photo in the comments — we’d love to see how they’re going.

To our volunteers, foster carers, supporters, donors, adopters… from the bottom of my heart, thank you 💕

Tracey, Founder & President (and all of the SCA kitties) ###

🛸 Meet Mulder — This little paranormal investigator is convinced your house holds mysteries… mostly involving snacks, feather toys, and why humans close doors. But he knows the Truth is Out There.

✨ While he waits for his forever family, Mulder is currently “conducting field research” in the cat enclosure at Petstock Country Plainland. If you stop by, he’ll happily brief you on his latest discoveries… especially if you bring the scritches.

Brave, curious, and a total sweetheart, Mulder is ready to uncover his greatest discovery yet — his forever family.

💚 Mulder has a sensitive tummy and needs prescription GI kitten food, but he’s otherwise a happy, healthy sweetheart who gives the best kisses.

🛩️🐾 Mission Accomplished thanks to 210 Squadron! 🐾🛩️

A huge thank you to the Australian Air Force Cadets 210 Squadron Toowoomba, for inviting Street Cat Alliance Queensland to their recent cadets’ evening and for their incredible support of our rescue.

As part of their training for future promotion, the Cadet Sergeant led a full mission: organising a Squadron‑wide donation drive for a worthy local charity, advertising it to members, and coordinating the collection of supplies - and we are so grateful that they chose us. 💙 Their efforts resulted in a fantastic haul of food, bedding and supplies for the cats in our care. The thought and teamwork behind their mission is truly inspiring.

SCA Squad member, Molly attended the evening to receive the donations and share a little about the work we do. And of course, we couldn’t resist sending along SCA Sergeant Peggy 🫡🐱 to personally inspect the cargo!

Peggy came into care with a serious foot injury requiring surgery, followed by months of TLC and rehabilitation. Thanks to her dedicated foster carer, she’s made an incredible recovery and has now been officially cleared for her next deployment… her forever home. 🏡💕

Thank you again to the cadets of 210SQN Toowoomba for your kindness, initiative and community spirit. Your support has helped vulnerable cats get the second chance they deserve. ✈️🐈💙
