SCA Qld is a small team of volunteers dedicated to helping community cats in need within the Toowoomba Region and throughout Southern Queensland. We rescue cats who have found themselves homeless for whatever reason – cats in regional pounds where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to overpopulation, cats surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances, abandoned and homeless s

trays, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We provide shelter, medical aid, vetting, and everyday care to these cats until their forever homes are found. TO DONATE:
As a not-for-profit charity organisation, SCA Qld does not receive government funding and all life-saving funds come from the generous donors who believe in our vision - to live in a community where no kitten is born wild on the street, and where no cat capable of living in a home is lacking one. 🚨 Emergency Vet 🚨

BJ’s scare came too soon for Halloween… BJ, one of our precious Halloweenies (yes, short for Beetlejuice!), has faced an unexpected medical emergency—far too real for a kitten whose biggest fright should’ve been fake bats and pumpkin toys. We need urgent funds to cover his vet care and give him the chance to chase shadows, not fight them.

Hypokalemia — the diagnosis came fast and hit hard. It’s treatable, but the road to recovery demands a lengthy hospital stay and urgent, specialised care. We are going to need some serious help to raise the funds for the vet. The estimate for BJ's initial care, including fluid therapy and his monitored hospital stay is between $1500-$2000. We have committed to his treatment and paid the deposit - because BJ is worth it 💕

We don’t often ask for donations like this but we have a couple of large vet accounts that are due, and our funds are severely depleted - BJ really needs your help.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐬… 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐭! (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐬, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 😅) 𝐘𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 🎉

Four years ago, Street Cat Alliance Queensland officially came to life - I registered our business name and ABN, and we became a fully accredited charity with the ACNC. I’d done a mountain of research beforehand and knew it would be an uphill climb. But here we are… still standing, still rescuing, still fighting for our vision: to create a community where no kitten is born wild, and every cat capable of being loved in a home has one.

This rescue is my heart and soul—but it’s also the heartbeat of our 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗖𝗔 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗱 💚 Our volunteers are the backbone of what we do. Some joined us with gentle nudges (okay... maybe a few were dragged in kicking and screaming 😆), while others found their way here after witnessing the work we do and the tight-knit community we’ve built. I couldn’t be prouder of us—we’re a team powered by compassion, thoughtfulness, and generosity.

We’ve also been lucky enough to partner with some amazing rescue groups, vet clinics, and retailers. Your support has been invaluable, and I’m so grateful.

And to our wonderful community—𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂! 💖 Over the past two years, your generosity has allowed us to save 𝟯𝟳𝟵 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀 from the streets. 🌈 While we heartbreakingly lost 11 of these precious souls, each one left this world with full bellies and warmth—many experiencing love for the first time. Their memory lives on with us.

Every SCA rescue received vet care, desexing, vaccinations, parasite treatments, and the best food we could provide. We’ve stepped in for cases of tick paralysis, road trauma, complex injuries and surgeries, even urinary blockages. Emergency care has covered dog attacks, snake bites (yep, they manage to sneak in 😱), perforated eardrums, and dental surgeries—situations where others may have understandably chosen euthanasia. We chose life, whenever possible.

📣 Call for a temporary foster carer!

Two of our long-term fosters, Possum and Maple need short term care for a few weeks from late July while their current human is out of the country!

SCA will continue to provide all food, litter, and equipment for these two snuggly, tubby tabbies – all you need is to provide love and affection 🥰

😺 Possum is a lovely young lady who enjoys sitting with you, watching the birds, chicken, and of course, playing with BFF Maple. Don’t let her glare fool you! She is judging you with LOVE! The way to win her heart is giving her pats when she sticks her tail in the air (also... chicken).

😽 Maple USED to be a shy girl but has really come out of her shell! She now loves following you around and shouting until you pick her up. You can find her on the bed or next to you on the couch. If she’s not there (or right on top of you!) she’s probably chasing her puff ball toys… or her best friend Poss!

What to expect during this temporary foster situation:
✨ It will be best to keep these two in their own room or space at first while they get acclimated to a new environment.
✨ Poss has met many new people (and cats) during her time in care and has become quite resilient! Usually within a few days she’s trying to get out and explore and get some attention.
✨ Maple may be more timid and need time to adjust, so having some patience and letting her stay in ‘her’ space will be the best strategy. Don’t worry, when she’s ready for attention and freedom she will tell you!

Well, an unexpected day at our Petstock BBQ Fundraiser 🫣 We came home with around $350 in sales and six newborn kittens 🥹

I was almost heading home from our event, when in came a lovely employee of a local hardware store with these teeeny newborn kittens stuffed down her shirt. Someone had spotted them all alone on a timber rack, and scooped them up into a box. Well intentioned, yes… the right thing to do without waiting for mum cat to return, or a plan in place? No 😞

Unfortunately mum didn’t return, and the little ones’ body temps dropped dangerously low. Luckily for them, their saviour (we shall call her ‘Jane’ 🙏🏼) knew what to do and popped them down her shirt to warm them.

We are absolutely closed to intake 🥺 But the outlook wasn’t good for these babies without immediate care. And that, we absolutely can do. We have a small but excellent team of vet nurses & experienced neo carers, and while we all have prior responsibilities, we are making it work 💕

A short time ago, a beautiful kitten was brought in to care, emaciated and very sick. Our amazing carers and vets did all they could, but were unable to save him. We decided that we just had to have an Intensive Care Unit to give our special cases the best chance at survival. After much researching, we found our ICU. But priced at over $3500 some major fundraising was needed.

Put on the back burner, time went by, and by chance our SCA Squad members Andrew and Charley spotted this beauty on Marketplace. Exactly what we wanted! So we didn’t miss out, they bought it - took it home, checked, cleaned, sanitised, and tested. And there she’s been sitting, waiting for her moment!

And how grateful I am! Because having this unit on hand has given these little stunners the best chance of survival while we work on a plan to catch mumma cat.

This is where I need your help! 🙏🏼 I would love to reimburse our friends for the unit on behalf of SCA. It was a large & unexpected expense for them, but one that would be easily covered by a few donations. I mean, this beauty only cost $700!!
