Naomi will be out at Westbrook this Saturday, attending this fun little event! I will have my cockatiels and budgies with me, come meet them 😁

Shenanigans on a Sunday afternoon... how many babies can I catch in one photo???

One thing I don't like about whitecaps, is that as babies, you can't really see their yellow in photos!! Three out of these four handraised babies are whitecap 🫣 Naomi has raised these little cuties 😁

One thing you will NOT find at Pretty Birdies...

PRE-CLIPPED WINGS!!

Recently we have seen some disturbing local posts featuring birds with badly hacked wings. Clipping is a choice that should be made BY THE OWNER, not something that should be done automatically and having that choice taken away.

We advocate for birds keeping their wings, whenever possible. We understand that sometimes a light clip may be appropriate, however we will always encourage you to consider if you can provide a safe home for your bird to remain flighted, whenever possible! We will NEVER pre-clip our birds... if you consider a clip to be necessary for your situation, we will happily show you how to conduct a safe light trim, on pickup.

Bandit says LET ME FLY AROUND AND BE A MENACE!!! MWAHAHA

We would love to welcome Emma Christensen to the Pretty Birdies team!!

Emma is located at Clifton, and specialises predominantly in Indian ringnecks, owning an impressive array of beautiful mutation ringnecks. Emma is new to handraising and is still learning the ropes, under the guidance of our other team members. We are excited to add Emma to our awesome team of Crazy Bird Ladies!!

How cute are these two though!!

Handraised by our team member Oxana (the girl) and a new kid on the block, Emma (the boy), they are both quite sweet!! They're staying with Naomi for a bit until it's time for them to move on... if you know what I mean 😁

This boy is a Whistler!!!

Occasionally we will get a young bird who shows very early signs of talking ability; whistling, chattering, mumbling, outside the scope of "normal" baby bird noises. These birds are very likely to be excellent "talking birds"... very quick and easy to train to talk!

This boy has started vocalisations already, he is approximately 8 weeks old and is already quite the chatterbox! He has found himself a wonderful new home now 🥰

DNA is back!! (And one has already been snapped up lol... don't waste any time!)

These little loves are in their final Weaning Week!! Time to learn how to be Big Independant Birdies 🤣
