Meet the Team: Dr Sam 💖🫶🏻💖

Dr Sam joined REDVET in 2023 after graduating with a veterinary degree from the University of Queensland.

Returning to the Redlands, she is passionate about small animal care and has been devoted to animals since childhood, whether reading wildlife magazines, pet sitting, or greeting every dog in the park 🐶

Outside of work, she enjoys crochet projects, often inspired by animals.

Dr Sam is a very talented surgical and consulting veterinarian, and you may also find her at our Russell Island Branch clinic, which she attends most weeks 🏝️

Guided by compassion, kindness, and education, Dr Sam is dedicated to providing the best care for your pets with warmth and friendliness 🫶🏻💖

✨ EKKA Week is here, and the Lovell Family has had a wonderful start to the show 🍦

For over 20 years, Dr David was the resident Ekka veterinarian, and what began as a job has grown into a beloved family tradition 💖

Now, with a big team of show horses and a new generation of in grandchildren Gabrielle and Carter, this time of year still holds a very special place on the family calendar 🎡

Drs David and Gail, PM Abbey and her husband Dan will be onsite for the whole EKKA, preparing to exhibit horses in a variety of events. Many of the clinic and family’s clients and friends are also competing, and we wish them all the best for a fantastic show! 💖

Things will be business as usual at the clinic, but if you spot any of us around the showgrounds, please come and say hi 👋

It’s one of Queensland’s best events - time to get 🫶🏻🫶🏻

This 🐱 PLEASE help us find this beautiful lady a home 🥺💖

Through no fault of her own she has been in care for MONTHS and desperately needs a home 🫶🏻💖

She is fully health checked, desexed, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flea treated. She is healthy, sociable, and ready for a second chance at life 🫶🏻

She has a charming but complex personality and would best be suited to an adult home, ideally with some experience with cats 🐈‍⬛

Major dental surgery is a complex procedure, and one which we perform regularly here at REDVET 🦷

Both dogs and cats often require multiple major surgical extractions, which are not dissimilar to us humans having our wisdom teeth removed ❤️‍🩹

The extraction procedure, especially in multi rooted large teeth, can be complicated by infection, gum disease, fractures, and more. We are very fortunate here at REDVET to have such great equipment, including a dedicated dental radiograph machine and Vet TOME Extraction system, operated by experienced veterinary surgeons and nurses, to help with these procedures 🫶🏻

Dental surgery can be a source of stress and concern for pet owners. We strongly encourage you to ask questions about anything that may help to make the procedure as comfortable as possible for both you and your pet. We offer free dental checks 7 days a week 🫶🏻💖 for peace of mind so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to book in 🦷

Winston’s always been curious, and a bit too interested in things that aren’t food 😧 When he started vomiting daily, stopped eating, and became lethargic, his owner brought him straight in for assessment ❤️‍🩹

X-rays showed a partial intestinal blockage caused by a knotted hair tie, a foreign body commonly ingested by cats 🐈 (we’ve removed up to 50 in one surgery alone 😼!)

Dr. Niki successfully performed urgent abdominal surgery to remove the obstruction, and Winston recovered well with supportive medical treatment in our purpose built hospital 🏥 Within days, he was eating, healing, and back to his usual self.

During his stay, Winston won the hearts of our whole team. He could often be seen in the arms of vets, nurses, CCR and junior team members alike, and was a regular visitor to patient rounds where he gave anyone who asked cuddles, brightening their days 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Thank you for being so brave Winston, and let’s keep it to social cuddle visits from now on 🐾 💙

These gorgeous babies are now available for adoption 🐾
3 chocolate boys 🐈‍⬛, 2 chocolate girls 🐈‍⬛ and one tabby female 🐾
Approximately 8 weeks old 💖
Adoption includes 1st vaccination, flea, tick and worm treatment, microchip, vet check and desexing at 14-16 weeks of age here at the clinic.

Thank you so much Soup 🥺 for giving a life saving blood donation to a critical patient in hospital 💖💖 Soup was SO brave, donating much needed fresh blood to a critically ill patient 🌟

Did you know both dogs and cats have specific blood types and groups like humans? Cats in particular have very tricky and specific transfusion requirements, and in an emergency, we occasionally need to perform what’s known as a where blood from another species is administered to the cat, bypassing the need for immediate typing 🩸 - a temporary but often life saving measure 🦸‍♀️

We are always on the lookout for new canine superhero blood donors, so if you think your dog might be eligible please reach out 🫶🏻

🎄 🎅 Christmas in July 🎅 🎄 and snacks today 🫶🏻 ♥️
Ps - just confirming the champagne glasses were DEFINITELY full of lollies and not bubbles (as much as Drs Bec and Kat and Nurse Jindi may have wished otherwise 😹🫶🏻)

Winter can bring relief for cats with environmental allergies 🐈. Reduced pollen, dust mites, and outdoor allergens mean less scratching and skin irritation for many allergic cats.

However, indoor heating can sometimes increase dust and the dry air may worsen some conditions.

If your cat's allergies seem seasonal, discuss long-term management strategies with us, as often flare-ups can be prevented!
