Paralysis ticks are extremely dangerous parasites that cause paralysis and even death, affecting thousands of dogs and cats every year. Once attached, the tick feeds and releases a potent toxin that attacks the central nervous system, leading to progressive paralysis and potentially death if not treated early.

🚨 Watch for These Signs of Tick Paralysis:

· Weakness or paralysis in the hind legs
· Wobbliness or lack of coordination
· Coughing or gagging
· Change in bark or meow tone
· Difficulty swallowing
· Vomiting or regurgitating
· Excessive drooling
· Inability to stand

Remember: Tick paralysis can progress rapidly. If you notice any of these signs, seek veterinary help immediately.

🦜🐨Did you know we treat wildlife?🐨🦜

AHT Vets accepts injured, unwell or orphaned wildlife that has been found by members of the public. 🪺

We offer this service for all wildlife found in the surrounding area, and there is no charge for the community member dropping the animal in to us. 🦘

Once admitted into our hospital, wildlife is triaged and, if viable, given fluids, food, medication and a warm bed before being collected by the RSPCA Animal Ambulance. 🚑

It is important we look after our much loved native wildlife, and our experienced team takes the treatment and care of our native fauna very seriously. 🌏🇦🇺

🦇⚠️AHT Vets must remind all members of the public to never approach or handle an injured or fallen bat. Bats can carry Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABLV) which is transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected bat saliva, usually via bites or scratches. If you are bitten or scratched by a bat please seek medical attention immediately. If you see an injured or fallen bat, please ring the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) for advice and remain a safe distance away from the animal. ⚠️🦇

Coco came in to see us when her mum noticed that Coco was suddenly unable to close her mouth properly. Upon closer examination, she was found to have a foreign body stuck on her tooth! Dr Tori was able to remove the object with no issues and Coco went back to her normal, happy self. 🐶🦷

She is a young, desexed female cat. She is black and white with a black mark on her nostril. She is wearing a black collar with a bell.
No microchip has been found.
