Sunny Coasters!

Gary’s fantastic groomer Belinda aka Clips n' Cuddles is now grooming from her home full time. This is your opportunity to get on her books before they fill up (and that’ll happen fast!).

Belinda has looked after Gary for years, he loves his “spa day” with her and always comes home looking a million bucks.

Belinda is especially good with double coated breeds, seniors who need some extra TLC during their clip, and dogs that other groomers have deemed too naughty for the table.

Drop her a message now, Gary says you won’t regret it ❤️

Spice shows a lot of potential. Could do well in goal, but given the devastating nature of her crash tackles, she’s really wasted anywhere other than in the back line.

🎓 Our first term of graduates, passing out of class with smiles on their faces and new tools in their toolbelts.

🐕 We had everything from Puppies to Functional Obedience closing out this weekend. A really awesome group of dog-human teams, all learning how to communicate with their dogs to achieve training goals together.

I don’t really like the word “reactive”. It only serves as a shorthand for “my dog’s behaviour is undesirable around this stimulus”.

The word doesn’t tell us anything about why the dog is behaving the way they are. And understanding that, it’s important in effecting behavioural change.

Additionally. “Reactive” becomes a label. A box we put the dog in. A life sentence we condemn them to. And that’s not cool. Dogs deserve better than to be pigeonholed into a small, sh*tty existence.

Eddie is working diligently in the background, arousal level proportionate only to the reinforcement his owner is offering in the work. Totally dialled in. We increased his threshold considerably today, and brought in the big guns - Rhu and her stink eye.

Eddie would be labelled “reactive” by most. But really, he just has a ton of value in dogs, an expectation that looney tune is the dress code for dog parties, and an inability to regulate himself.

The observant among you will notice this setup looks very obedience-y. And, it is. But I can tell you - all the lessons Eddie needed to learn about modulating arousal levels, self control, handler focus, pathways to success, not playing dirty, and teamwork - we taught them in play.

Killer job today team Eddie. I’m so proud of you 🤍
