EOI : TT Gidget and TT Peaches are going to waste here. Our loss your gain! We have decided to retain and breed their daughters this year so the girls are looking for their next home. We have ummed and arred as to if we have space to breed them again this year but we just can't keep them all! Only selling as with AGB their kids will not meet the % mark to be registered. Both very good milkers, both used to machine and hand milking. Both very ready to be mums again and could be mated with our buck First Fleet Mars prior to leaving (for a fee). Gidget is the mother of our gorgeous Ginger who did exceptionally well when shown with the DGSA as a kid and Peaches is from our exceptional milking line (Piper her mum has been known to milk over 3ltrs of milk a day) and clips up well for show, some udder pics from first freshening attached. We would like them to stay together. Contact us through our webpage www.tippytoesminigoats.com.au if you are interested in more information.

One of the reasons wethers make much better family goats than the does! Yes Daisy is ok and Sorry to those who live around our farm… This lass is not getting mated just yet as she is still feeding her daughter and is just coming off last years pregnancy but she would like to let Everyone know she’s keen and ready!
Mini Nubians show the Anglo
genetics so much when they speak! They don’t talk very often but when they do they make sure they are heard!

Sunday just gone saw us attend the Tasmanian Summer Allbreeds show where we showed under both the DGSA and AGB associations. Previously we would have taken a photo of all the ribbons we brought home and posted it along with all our winners photos but in 2026 we want to get people to look at showing a bit differently! Showing for us is not about the ribbons or the points (they are great dont get me wrong) but about helping us make informed (and yes it’s only one judge! but it’s also the comments from our friends/competitors 🙂 ) breeding decisions for the future of our herd. So this year I want to post one yippee moment from each show and tell you why that’s my yippee! As we had two shows, you’ll get two yippeee’s this post and you can read about why in the comments of the photos….

I guess the truth is out! And I love being part of my fellow crazy goat ladies (and men). The world would be a much more boring place without you… But really, great article and a great day had by all yesterday. If you haven’t done it yet put GoatFest Tasmania on your 2027 to do list and come see us in this gorgeous state. Oh and Yes this time Georgia Blue took all the credit and left Thistle to hold the fort in the display tent!

Sometimes breeders need to make the right decisions for the goats they bred and listen to their gut feelings. Tonight I had to make a hard decision and enforce a sales contract and cancel a sale. The first one I have done in all my time breeding, which is over a decade long!

Maybe I should have listened to my gut and known this wasn't the new home for our kids when I had to, practically force the prospective buyers, for me to FaceTime them just to see our boys....and not continued the sale then.

Maybe I should have cancelled the sale and looked at other avenues when the deposit wasn't paid on time and I had to chase it two days late....But I gave them the benefit of doubt...they are a busy family I told myself!

Maybe I should have had alarm bells when they said they were going to come and pick up the boys then suddenly asked for us to transport them half way.... Did they not want to see where they came from and meet our little boys mums and dads?

Maybe I should have made them come and pick up the boys on the date they had chosen..... but they said they were concerned about their children's welfare so we changed all our plans to suit them.... only for them to decide that the date they would collect the boys, their children weren't coming to pick them up anyway....

But it was only when I was still waiting two days after the final agreed payment, after many texts from them that they were going to pay yet nothing was showing up in the account, that it dawned on me...

If there are this many excuses now, how is it going to be when it gets tough, when the boys grow up or need to be seen by a vet?

As I read the Facebook post they have put up about us - without mentioning any of this other information I have just listed above- if you read this and are one of the keyboard warriors who has written things about us without knowing the whole truth! Please know we love our goats and there are times you need to put them first! I knew this would end up in a witch hunt but our goats are more important to us than people opinions.

Yes their deposit has been returned - I was the one who asked for their bank details to get it back to them...

Yes I have another prospective home interested them but if it doesn't come to fruition I would rather trust my gut and keep the boys here until the right home comes along.

And - for those of you who think we are doing this in any way for the money one of these little boys I held in my hands while I watched sobbing as his sleeping sister was born with the help of our amazing vets, so the money we get for him won't even come close to saving him and his mum.

So yes,
I will sleep better tonight knowing I have made the right decision for our boys.

And to all those breeders who have a gut feeling along the way of a sale and decide to go with it. TRUST It as the animals we breed are our responsibility and are so much more important than what people say about you when you put your animals first!

Thank you for putting in words what I have been struggling with, as we find our forever homes for our goats this year.

As the time comes near for our kids, and some of their mums, to find new homes, I have been finding it hard to have the motivation to let people know they are ready to go. The gut punch when you spend your day answering all... the questions and then get asked 'How Much?"for your goats, the ones you have put your heart and soul into, not left the farm for weeks, to make sure they have everything they need and then some....only for people to say thats ok I can find one 'cheaper' elsewhere.

We all knew that prices in some of the higher priced breeds would level out but selling below what the goat has actually cost to raise, DNA, register and do all the correct husbandry that should have been undertaken, just doesn't make sense and devalues our breeds, our genetics and all the hard work that has been put in by breeders for over a decade now so you can enjoy the breeds as they are today.

Our prices are a little different to Kamalaya Farm and we do have Kids and Does looking to become your next family gardener, breeding, show or milking goat available. But if you are thinking of getting a goat to be part of your family this year please read and reflect on what has been written below because as a fellow breeder who puts their animals first, It just makes sense....
