Allowing a dog to choose between two treat types, decide whether to approach a person, or opt into a training session increases confidence and reduces stress. When animals feel they have agency, learning becomes smoother, safer, and far more cooperative.

Big Congratulations to Bella and Honey who recently passed their first PAT with PAT Dogs Australia. This is our first client to progress to accreditation with PAT Dogs Australia. Their testing criteria is slightly different and was a good learning experience.

Honey is a fantastic assistance dog and provides amazing support for Bella. Going to a place like the Sydney Aquarium is not one of my favourite places to visit with big crowds and loud children, (lol) but Honey did a fantastic job on this visit. Honey has been doing a wonderful job opening Bella's world to so much.

We have been training for quite some time and for those that have trained an assistance dog, you know how we go through ups and downs, frustration and joy, along with the thrill of the lightbulb turning on and the pieces of the puzzle start joining together with all of the work that we put in.

It's a team effort of family support, professional medical support, OT, Support Workers, dog training. Ensuring the right team is behind you, I have found is the best formula to reach goals.

Big congratulations to our recent Good Manners students that graduated. A lovely range of doggos that worked on their foundation skills, along with behaviour modification skills to reduce excitability when seeing triggers. We saw lovely improvements with handling skills, connection and understanding how to work with their dogs by observing their dog's body language, learning how to take your dog outdoors and have an enjoyable time. Teaching calm behaviours inside the home. We worked on jumping for all of the dogs too. We had a mix of weather, we had an amazing group of people committed to learn and better their bond and skills with their dog. Thank you everyone for joining the Good Manners course!!

Our final Good Manners classes are all underway for 2025. New classes will start on Saturday 10 January 2026.

Congratulations to our advanced Good Manners class. It's always a pleasure to have returning clients from puppy classes continue with their training to advance their skills and take their foundational training to a higher standard. Thanks everyone for coming back to our classes.

All of our Good Manners classes are full and underway for the rest of 2025. Intake remains open, but classes will recommence on Saturday 10 January 2026.

Baby Puppy and Senior Puppy classes will next start on 16 November.

Can you believe I'm about to talk about the end of the year!! Yep we are getting close to Christmas. This year I will be running classes just up to Christmas time. Our (last) 2025 puppy classes will begin on Sunday 16 November. Class times have adjusted for the warmer weather. This means a fresh start to the day and then you can enjoy the rest of the day with your puppy! :D

Baby Puppy class is for wee little puppies aged 8 to 14 weeks. This course is great to get started on the right paw with confidence building, basic obedience, home manners, separation training and all the rest to get you started on the right path.
Puppies need 1 vaccination to join. 5 week course, cost $220

Senior Puppy class is for slightly older puppies, 15 to 22 weeks, shifting into early adolescence. We start working on more challenging behaviours, progressing basic obedience, building manners in the home and outdoors. Many people enjoy the course as it can be surprising how excitable their puppies can be at this age and how to manage them.
Puppies require vaccinations appropriate to their age, usually 2 jabs when starting. 5 week course, cost $250

These classes will see you finish on 14 December. So you have the rest of the time to get ready for end of year festivities.

Nature provides so much for our dogs. Do you take your dog out on a sniffari walk? This is where having your dog on a longer leash 3, 5 or 10 metres clipped to the back of their harness is a great setup to allow more agency in their choice to enjoy exploring and scents. Mind the bindis in Penrith right now and find a suitable and safe location. 🤭
