Some bonds go far beyond words 🩶

Meet beautiful Sora, who came in with her owner and we couldn’t help but notice the incredible tattoo tribute proudly worn on their arm. It’s always so special seeing the love people have for their pets shown in such personal and meaningful ways.

Our pets become part of our families, our routines, our comfort, and our stories.

Whether it’s a paw print on your clothes, a camera roll full of photos, or artwork that stays with you forever, the connection we share with them is something truly special.

Do you have a tattoo, keepsake, or special way you honour your pets?

We’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Sweet tooth? Maybe. Regrets? Not for Mable! 🍫🐾

Mable paid us a visit after helping herself to some chocolate at home something that can be very dangerous for our furry friends. Thankfully, her owners acted quickly and brought her straight in, where we safely induced vomiting to help remove the chocolate before it could cause serious toxicity.

Now Mable is feeling much brighter… and judging by that face, she has absolutely no regrets about her sneaky snack choices 😅

A reminder to all pet owners:
Chocolate contains substances called theobromine and caffeine, which pets cannot process the same way humans can. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, tremors, elevated heart rate, seizures, and in severe cases, can be life-threatening.

If your pet has eaten chocolate, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible early treatment makes a huge difference! ☎️ 🐾

Sweet Reina visited us this week after getting a little too close to a bee!

While bee stings are much more common during spring and summer in Adelaide, curious pups can still find bees on warmer autumn days especially in gardens with flowering plants 🌼

Reina was very brave during her visit and is now recovering well at home 🐾

Bee stings are commonly seen around the face, mouth, and paws. While many only cause mild swelling, some pets can experience a severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis, which can become life-threatening very quickly.

⚠️ Signs to watch for after a sting:
• Swelling around the face or muzzle
• Drooling
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Difficulty breathing
• Pale gums
• Sudden weakness or collapse

If your pet shows any of these signs after a bee sting, seek veterinary attention immediately.

Thank you to Reina’s family for letting us share her story and remind everyone to keep an eye on curious pets all year round 🐝💙

Why Cat Bites Are Serious 🐈

Cat bites often lead to infections because their sharp teeth that creates deep puncture wounds which traps bacteria under the skin. This can quickly form an abscess which is a painful, pus-filled swollen wound that may require antibiotics or even surgery.

Common Signs of an Abscess:
- Swelling or a painful lump
- Redness or hair loss in one area
- Oozing pus or bad smell
- Limping (if near a limb)
- Lethargy or reduced appetite
- Fever

Sometimes the wound is hard to see until the abscess forms or bursts.

What to Do:

If you think your cat has been bitten, take them to a vet as soon as possible.
Early treatment prevents more serious infection and reduces pain.

❄️🐾 Cold Weather Care for Our Senior Pets 🐾❄️

As the temperatures drop, our older furry friends can really feel the chill. Just like us, senior pets often struggle more with cold weather, especially if they have arthritis or other age-related conditions.

Here are a few simple ways to keep them comfortable this winter:
✨ Provide warm, soft bedding away from drafts
✨ Keep them indoors or limit time outside on colder days
✨ Consider a cosy jacket for short walks
✨ Stay on top of regular health checks (cold weather can worsen joint pain and other conditions)

If you’ve noticed your pet slowing down, stiffening up, or seeming uncomfortable, it might be time for a check-up.

Early support can make a big difference in their quality of life 💙

Today is World Veterinary Day, and it gives us a special opportunity to reflect on why we love what we do.

Being part of your pet’s life is something we never take for granted. From meeting excited new puppies and kittens, to helping manage chronic conditions, to supporting families through emotional goodbyes every moment matters to us.

Veterinary medicine is more than just treating illness. It’s about building relationships, advocating for our patients who cannot speak for themselves, and helping pets live comfortable, happy lives with the people who love them most.

We are incredibly proud of our entire team, our vets, nurses, animal attendants and support staff who show compassion, patience and dedication every single day. This job can be challenging, but the reward of caring for your pets makes it truly special.

To our wonderful clients, thank you for trusting us with your beloved family members and for allowing us to be part of their journey. We feel very lucky to care for such amazing patients and families 💙
