Before you get your new puppy, I strongly recommend a crate/sturdy playpen setup like this.

Crate training your pup is a great way to speed up toilet training, get them used to being in a crate for those times when they may need to be confined and also gives them a safe space where they know they can retreat to when they need a break.

Avoid puppy pads or grass toilet areas as this still teaches them to toilet inside. Instead, they need regular breaks and to be rewarded for toileting outside. Always walk them to the door to their toilet area instead of carrying them so they learn where they need to go.
