We are a not-for-profit organisation established in 1990 to rescue, treat and rehome dogs. K9 Rescue Group strives to educate the community about responsible dog ownership. We provide a regional service in Western Australia to the Peel, Rockingham, Kwinana and Cockburn areas. At K9 Rescue Group we are passionate about creating an environment where a dog is treated as a rightful and respected member of the community. We have over a hundred volunteers who work tirelessly to successfully rehome around 400 dogs a year, and seek to promote the significant benefits that pet ownership brings to the community.

🎃👻 BOO! HAPPY HOWLOWEEN! 🦇🐾

Our kennels are currently home to a terrifying collection of little monsters, professional snack thieves and suspicious characters who are STILL waiting for their forever homes. 🕷️

Some are guilty of stealing hearts, others have a criminal history of stealing socks, and a few are convinced they’re lap dogs despite weighing the same as a small fridge 💀

They’ll haunt you for snacks, follow you into the bathroom like a possessed Victorian child and make strange noises at absolutely nothing. 👻

But don’t be scared… they’re mostly harmless. Unless you’re a tennis ball. 🎾

This Halloween, skip the tricks and come collect yourself a treat! 🍬

Welcome Barney 🥺💛

Some dogs quietly work their way into your heart, and Barney is one of them. The sweetest, gentlest boy with a beautiful old soul, Barney hasn’t had the start to life he deserved. But since arriving, he’s come such a long way, and watching him slowly discover the world and come out of his shell has been something pretty special.

Pretty much everything is a new experience for Barney. Things other dogs might take in their stride can feel a little daunting for him, so he’s looking for a quieter home with kind, patient people who’ll let him take things at his own pace 💛

Barney loves being around his people, so a home where someone is around more often than not would be his perfect fit. Some gentle reassurance, a comfy spot close by and the chance to feel safe and loved would mean the world to him.

🐾 WE NEED TREATS! 🐾

Our rescue dogs have been working hard on their training, and we’re running low on their favourite treats!

We’re reaching out to our amazing community for a little help restocking our treat supplies.We are especially in need of kangaroo-only treats for our dogs with dietary requirements, as well as a variety of other treats for training and enrichment.

We’ve included some photos of the treats we use and would love to receive!

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and helps us continue working with our dogs while they wait for their forever homes. 🐶

700 days 🤯🥺

Yep, you read that right. Our Poppy has been waiting a whopping 700 days for her forever home. Just under two years 💔

Poppy arrived with her newborn puppies, who have since grown up and been adopted. But the beautiful mum who raised them? She’s still waiting for someone to choose her. 🥺

Thankfully, she’s spent most of that time living it up in foster, where she’s been busy perfecting her very important Poppy skills:

💕 Giving plenty of love.
😂 Providing entertainment with a generous side of sass.
🛋️ Treating personal space as an optional extra. “Personal space? Never heard of her.”

This 4yo Amstaff knows what she wants, and she’s more than happy to present a convincing argument about why you should get it for her. Expect persistence. Expect personality. Expect to wonder who’s actually in charge. 👑

Honey is a little firecracker with energy to burn and enough character for three dogs. Life with this girl? You’ll never be short of entertainment! 😂💛

But there’s a smoochy side to our busy bee. Once she’s out of the kennels, Honey is a much calmer gal who’s ready to soak up your love and lean in for a kiss. She’s looking for an active home where she’ll be included in the fun. Adventures, exploring, playtime? Honey’s already at the door wondering what’s taking you so long! 🎒🐕

Community Spotlight 🌟🩵

Behind every community fundraiser are people giving their time, energy and kindness to help our dogs.

Over the past few weeks we have had some incredible support from our community fundraising for us and we would like to say THANK YOU!

🌿 K9 supporters Steve and Lucy hosted a plant stall, raising more than $1,200 for K9. Such a lovely way to turn a love of plants into support for our dogs!

🐾 Jacaranda Cat Sanctuary welcomed us to their Pet Wise Community Event, giving us the opportunity to sell raffle tickets and connect with fellow animal lovers.

🛍️ Mandurah Forum provided a free stall space for us as a not-for-profit, helping us raise vital funds.

🎟️ September also saw wonderful support through a meat raffle at Whitehorse Tavern and the SouthSide Line Dancers Fiesta Social Fundraiser. A big thank-you to everyone who organised, attended and contributed.

To the volunteers running stalls, the venues opening their doors and everyone buying a plant or raffle ticket, thank you. Your efforts help us continue caring for dogs while they wait for a home.

Teefies, wrinkles & a whole lotta personality! 🦷

Meet Rolley, our 1.5 year old Bulldog mix with teefies for days and enough personality to share with the entire neighbourhood. 😂

Now, some might say he’s got a face only a mother could love… but we reckon he’s pretty dang cute. Besides, what he lacks in conventional good looks, he makes up for with personality. And trust us, he’s got plenty to go around!! 🤣

Rolley can live with a female doggo and kids 15+

He might not be winning any beauty pageants, but he’s absolutely winning hearts ❤️
