We are a not-for-profit organisation established in 1990 to rescue, treat and rehome dogs. K9 Rescue Group strives to educate the community about responsible dog ownership. We provide a regional service in Western Australia to the Peel, Rockingham, Kwinana and Cockburn areas. At K9 Rescue Group we are passionate about creating an environment where a dog is treated as a rightful and respected membe

r of the community. We have over a hundred volunteers who work tirelessly to successfully rehome around 400 dogs a year, and seek to promote the significant benefits that pet ownership brings to the community.

Maxine’s Legacy 🕊️🤍

We would like to honour the life and legacy of a very special member of the K9 family, Maxine.

Maxine was not only a wonderful supporter of K9 Rescue Group, but also a loving adopter who opened her heart and home to K9 dog Koda in 2024, along with her husband, son and daughter.

A message from Maxine’s widower, Ian:
“Maxine was an avid follower of K9 and was always re-posting your news feeds and appeals for homes for different dogs. We would have a house full if we didn’t control ourselves. We already have 3 dogs, co-parent my sons Dalmatian whilst he’s away, 3 cats and a large block to look after!

Koda has been an absolute god-send. He is such a calm, quiet, loving boy, Maxine fell in love with him when she first saw him in your post and I don’t think anything was going to stand in her way to get him. He is very much loved and so enjoyed his evening cuddles with Max. Her passing has been a big adjustment for the dogs as well.

Maxine has the Volunteer paperwork at home and was adamant she was going to apply to help volunteer at K9 in some small way. Unfortunately working shifts, full time, unpredictable hours always seem to get in the way.

I am so glad you are happy with the donation. My daughter started a Go Fund Me account for Maxine so people were able to donate towards her favourite charities instead of buying flowers. We also gave a donation to the North Dandalup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade. Again an amazing and essential organisation and one so many people volunteer their time and time away from families to help and serve the community.

We wanted to give to local charities that we knew would directly benefit from the money and would be put to worthy and direct use instead of being swallowed up in corporate administration.

My only wish is that Maxine was there to hand the cheque over to you directly. I know this is what she would have wanted and she would be so proud of what we have been able to do.

Please send our best wishes to all of the staff and our love to all of the future Kodas looking for their forever homes. You are all doing an amazing job.”

Everyone wants to be her. Everyone wants to know her. And every volunteer wants to walk her 😂

Bunny is the kind of girl who is ALWAYS smiling, nothing can rain on this queen’s parade! 👸🏼☀️

She’s also been one of our superstars behind the scenes, helping so many dogs who come through our doors with their socialisation. She’s made plenty of four-legged friends along the way and takes her role as K9’s social butterfly very seriously ✅💁‍♀️

Her favourite activities include:
🔥 Hot girl walks
👯 Socialising with her doggy friends
🚗 Heading out on adventures
💅 Being iconic (duh)
😁 Smiling approximately 24/7

Bunny is an active gal looking for a forever home that’ll keep her busy, include her in their adventures and appreciate the absolute ray of sunshine she is.

We’re so happy to announce an adoption update on beautiful Fred! This sweet boy spent a total of 519 days with us while he waited for his forever family to come. Safe to say he’s hit the jackpot and it was worth the wait! 🫶🏼

“Fred is doing great. We are all so happy and just love him to bits!! He's obviously been treated badly in a previous life and we're working slowly to help him get through his anxiety.

He's now an avid lover of beef bones and loves stuffed toys. He's a fabulous runner and intrigued by the kangaroos and bunnies that live around here.
He loves when our daughter has friends over and he chills with them, like one of the girls haha! He fits perfectly into our family.

Freddie went on his maiden voyage on the boat on the weekend and loved it!” 💚

At 8 years old, Indi is looking for the fresh start she deserves after sadly finding herself in the pound.

She may not know how to smile for photos, but don’t let that serious face fool you! This sweet, squishy girl is an absolute gem. ✨ Indi is loving, smoochy and loves going off site for adventures.

A home with people around more often than not is perfect for Indi! Dog parks and beaches aren’t her vibe, although she’s making progress with socialisation.

Oh Pearly… you’re time will come 🥺💔

460 days of waiting. That’s 460 days of Pearl staring at the same walls, day in, day out.

She’s an 8 year old Shar Pei x Staffy mix, weighing just over 20kg. She’s overlooked because she isn’t dog social and has some allergies. Her needs are actually simple. A single protein kangaroo diet, and avoid dog parks and beaches. Simple.

In every other way, Pearl is the perfect companion. She is unbelievably loving and cuddly, adores car rides and walkies, and does the best zoomies! 🤍

All she needs is someone willing to look beyond two small limitations and give her the best life she’s waited 460 days for.

Please don’t let Pearl spend another year staring at the same walls. She so deserves to know what it feels like to finally be home ❤️‍🩹

Another month of making a difference 🩵

Thanks to the incredible ongoing support of Community Bank Pinjarra, we’re able to continue providing the everyday care our dogs need while they wait for the homes they deserve.

This is our beautiful Mitch who is currently in our care and a perfect example of who this generous support helps.

For veterinary care like vaccinations and desexing all the way to the more complicated surgeries, their generous support helps us be there for every dog who comes through our gate.

We’re incredibly grateful to Community Bank Pinjarra for continuing to stand behind us and helping us give local dogs the care, time and second chances they need.
