That’s the spot! 🐾 The nurses were under strict rules to ALWAYS pat the kitty, and only under the chin, of course! 😻
This puurrfect little ragdoll came in for her routine F3 vaccination and, naturally, a whole lotta love. 💕🐱

But what exactly does the F3 vaccination protect our feline friends against?

The F3 protects against three important feline viruses:
💉 Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1) — one of the main causes of feline “cat flu,” which can cause sneezing, runny eyes and noses, and conjunctivitis.
💉 Feline Calicivirus (FCV) — another common cause of cat flu, which can also lead to mouth ulcers, sneezing and respiratory signs.
💉 Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV) — a highly contagious virus that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness and can be particularly dangerous, especially in kittens.

And yes, cats can get their own version of the “flu”! 🐱🤧 While it’s not the same influenza virus that affects humans, feline respiratory infections can make our kitties feel very unwell and can be much harder on their little immune systems.

Keeping your cat’s vaccinations up to date is one of the simplest ways to help protect them from these nasty diseases. ❤️

And if you’re wondering… yes, sage the ragdoll received plenty of chin scratches as part of her treatment plan. It’s basically medical protocol. 😉🐾

Cuddles and nail trims with Desmond and Dr. Nikae! 🥹💚🐹

Who says a vet visit can’t include plenty of cuddles? Desmond enjoyed some quality snuggle time with Dr. Nikae before having his routine nail trim, and he handled it like a champion! ✨

Regular nail trims are an important part of keeping our small furry friends healthy. When nails become too long, they can:
🐾 Make walking uncomfortable and change the way they stand or move.
🐾 Catch on bedding, toys, or cage furniture, which can lead to broken nails or injuries.
🐾 Curl into the foot, causing pain, infection, and difficulty getting around.
🐾 Put extra pressure on the joints over time, affecting comfort and mobility.

That green bow tie really brings out his eyes!

Rusty came in for a lumpectomy and a dental, and he was such a brave boy from start to finish! ✨

Here’s a little veterinary science for you! Have you ever noticed that lots of medical words end in ”-ectomy”?

The suffix -ectomy means the surgical removal of something.

Here are a few common examples:
🔹 **Lumpectomy** – surgical removal of a lump or mass.
🔹 **Mastectomy** – surgical removal of a mammary gland.
🔹 **Splenectomy** – surgical removal of the spleen.
🔹 **Enterectomy** – surgical removal of part of the intestine.

Medical terminology can sound complicated, but once you understand the prefixes and suffixes, it becomes much easier to work out what these procedures involve! 🩺📚

Louis and Dr. Nikae made an incredible team during this procedure! 🐾✨

Louis was the perfect patient as Dr. Nikae performed a paw exploration to investigate the cause of persistent swelling. While swelling can sometimes result from a simple soft tissue injury, ongoing or unexplained swelling may indicate a retained foreign body (such as a grass seed or splinter), infection, a cyst, or other underlying conditions that aren’t always visible from the surface.

If your pet is persistently licking a paw, limping, or has swelling that isn’t improving, it’s worth having it assessed early. Prompt investigation can prevent ongoing pain, reduce the risk of complications, and get your furry friend back on all four paws sooner. 💙🐶

Porcini,🐾💛 Our favourite Italian Greyhound stole the show at the clinic with his long legs, puppy eyes, and charming personality. It’s safe to say he had a queue of nurses eagerly waiting for a post-op cuddle!

As you can see in the video, Porcini is wearing a recovery bodysuit instead of the traditional cone. 🩺✨ While the “cone of shame” is a great option for many pets, it’s not the only way to help prevent licking, scratching, or chewing at a surgical wound.

Depending on your pet’s procedure, size, and temperament, there may be other recovery options available, including:
• Recovery bodysuits
• Inflatable recovery collars
• Soft recovery cones
• Traditional Elizabethan collars (cones)

Sweet River came in for a dental procedure and was an absolute star throughout his visit. ✨

Smaller dog breeds are often more prone to dental disease, this is because their jaws are much smaller, but they still have a similar number of teeth as larger dogs. This can lead to overcrowding, making it easier for plaque and tartar to build up and harder to keep teeth clean. 🦷

Regular dental checks, professional cleans, and good at home dental care can make a huge difference in keeping your pet’s mouth healthy and comfortable.

⚽ World Cup shenanigans at the clinic! 🇦🇺🐾

Last Friday, we swapped our scrubs for green and gold as we gathered to cheer on the Socceroos between consults! There may have been a few extra snack breaks, plenty of team spirit, and lots of passionate commentary from both our staff and a few curious patients. 🐶🐱

A draw is still a win... right? 😉 We’ll definitely take it and keep cheering the boys on for the next match!
