Wow what a weekend talk about the highs and lows of the sport of eventing, horses and horse trucks!! (Warning its a long one)
We went away to Albury Horse Trials this weekend with Weemala Mighty Mo, Cougar, Hearts’n’Stars and Mighty Mary
Harry and Cougs were doing the EvA95 and Momo the 2 Star, Candy was just along for company
We started with massive highs on Saturday with Cougs just outside the top 10 after dressage, Momo with a PB for 2 Star dressage with over 65% and Harry with Tori Doak cracking the 70% mark with a cracking dressage test!
Cougs and Harry then followed it up with clear showjumping to be sitting in 8th and 4th respectively!
Sunday was a mixed bag with Cougs and Sandi having a great XC round but a run out at the apex due to some rider error cost them 2nd place but still super happy for the 2nd ever round, Harry and Tori super clear round for their first ever 95 and just a few time penalties dropping them out of the placings. Momo was jumping a super 2 star SJ round up to jump 9 when he slipped on the turn which led to three consecutive rails after that, Sandi was quite disappointed as it started so well. On to XC for Momo and he absolutely stormed around a fairly tough track and was up on his time for the first time at the level when a poor turn by his rider gave him not the best stride to a skinny arrow head and he glanced off the side! This was Momo’s first Xc jump penalties since his first 80cm
He jumped clear on next attempt and finished just 9sec over time!
Packed up and headed home and about 2hrs into the trip and the two rear drivers side tires on the truck blew out!! A scary experience but we slowed and got the truck off the highway, But found ourselves with 1 spare 2 blown tires and 4 horses stuck on the side of the freeway! Yet again we are blown away and humbled by the kindness of our friends, horse community and total strangers that got us eventually to safety
To Susanne Jahnel and Ellie Miller who stopped and came back to rescue our horses and get them to safety
To Hoges and Peter the 2 drivers of the Semi that did a U Turn on the Hume highway to help 2 girls and a horse truck you guys are amazing and restore our faith in people
To Ross at the property we were stranded near for allowing us to put our horses in your stables while we waited for the rescue trucks
Words cannot describe our gratitude to these friends and strangers and every one else who offered support and help
Everyone is home safe and sound and the truck is off for 6 new tires this week!!! d
