Full set of boots for a lovely TB.

There’s a few TB rules of thumb:

✅ Most of the time they will take a WIDE boot on the clubby foot, and a regular boot on the lower foot.
The WIDE boot is more upright, and has a round sole shape.

✅ If the low foot is bigger than a 120 boot, it’s usually better as a custom boot with a smaller TPU gaiter.

✅ If the hind feet are bigger than size 120, they will be better as a custom boot with smaller TPU gaiter.
In the pics it sits nice and snug against the heelbulbs without big gaps- perfect fit.

There’s the occasional exception like this guy who is in regular boots of the same size in front.

Hind boots are custom with a smaller TPU gaiter.

I didn’t bring enough blue straps so he’s still sporting a pink fitting strap in the pictures, but we didn’t leave him like that 🙂‍↔️

Trimming flat and not applying a roll of some form to the hoof wall leads to flares, uneven wear and a funky shaped foot, plus thin soles. I see this all the time. The hoof will not stay together, even if the trim cycle is relatively short (who else trims 4 weekly? I don't know of many people who do). Using a bevel from the bottom and from the top gives a much more lasting trim (4 weeks). Try it, it will make a massive difference to the health of the feet!

It’s feeling a lot less wintery with “evening rides” a possibility again.

We’ve had a bunch of ripper sunny days- I hope all the horses are ‘locked up’ on their tracks because it’s already been laminitis weather for about a month!

Did you know that trimming their feet weekly will mitigate the damage by SO much?? It’s a great time to start learning now because the feet are still soft.

And Hoof School is the place to go to learn how to do just that.

There is only one Hoof School in the world- and it’s us!! No one teaches you how to learn to trim like we do, you’ll see when you join us. ❤️

Occasionally we do “do something”!

Truthfully I ride very little but we’re still making good progress. We get Dr Melanie Quick - The Problem Horse over for lessons and I’ve committed to sticking with ONE THING. This hasn’t always been the case; I see shiny things and abandon current activities until the next shiny thing appears 🤷‍♀️ don’t do it, you’ll get exactly no where 😂

(If you wanna come for lessons here too, you can!)

Anyhow, we’re in a ‘Steering stage’ atm and I think we’ll be there for a while, just adding a little bit of trot right now and hopping off much sooner rather than later. I’m only on for maybe 15 minutes on a good ride.

Cedric was a very good boy today, even though we had a deer in the bush, a Kooka in the other bush, and a rustly rabbit in the third bush, all perfect opportunities for a big SPOOK 😱 but he didn’t, he just stopped to have a look which is part of what he’s been learning. 😮‍💨 Stand still when you get scared.
Great progress even though we do hardly anything!

You can look after your own feet, a horse can’t !

Imagine the feeling and experience your horse has every time they take a step without fear of pain, without second guessing the ground they walk on. Imagine the ride you have when your horse is not second guessing. Imagine the improvement to your horses holistic health when their hoofs are well care for?

My superpower is engaging with horse owners and doing stuff with horses hooves! Getting people to realise the importance of taking action for horse hoofs to be well cared for and owners educated on what that means. Horse trimming and Flex Hoof Boots.

I recently again saw the devastation of a P3 pe*******on through the horses sole. That is something that no horse in human care should experience, it is no experience a lover of horses should ever see. It makes me even more passionate about education, service and providing good quality products for horses hooves.

I offer 15 minutes free phone consults to help with any advice, direction you are looking for in relation to your horses hooves. I also offer to get on the phone with your hoof trimmer or person of care for a fee of $30, 2 heads is sometimes better than 1.
